Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 574

Bang—bang—

The trigger was pulled, bullets tearing through the air and slicing through the shadows. It was the ultimate defiance against the world's predetermined fate.

Blood pooled across the floor, mingling with pain, wails, and terror, all writhing under the bright sunlight.

The smirk on Preston's face slowly froze, replaced by a flickering, dark intensity deep in his eyes.

He loved this feeling. It was like some forbidden ritual. He was so tempted to willingly rip out his own heart and offer it to her, but just before she crushed it, he would bite her neck and drag her down into the abyss with him, just to see whose heart would stop first, or whose neck would snap.

To him, every gunshot he heard right now was a hymn preceding that dark ritual.

Thump—thump—thump—

His constricted heartbeat sped up, a dark, uncontrollable urge sprouting wildly in his chest. It was intoxicating, thrilling him in a way that surpassed any violence or twisted pleasure he had ever known.

He stood in the shadows, watching her.

"Why are there gunshots?"

Rowena was scared out of her wits, standing on her tiptoes as she peered toward the shantytown. "Zeke, did something go wrong?"

Zeke looked grim. Their job was supposed to be quiet, and since they were dealing with a teenage girl, his men had gone in completely unarmed.

This was bad!

"Zeke?"

Seeing his silence, Rowena's panic spiked. She carefully tugged on his sleeve.

Zeke erupted in rage, grabbing Rowena and slapping her twice across the face.

"You stupid bitch! Didn't you say everything was handled? If anything goes south, I'll skin you alive!"

Rowena was stunned by the blows. When she finally snapped back to reality, she threw her arms around Zeke's leg and wailed, "Zeke, I—"

This was a massive mess. Zeke had no patience for her tears. He kicked her squarely in the chest, sending her collapsing to the ground with a shriek.

Still furious, Zeke kicked her a few more times until she stopped moving entirely.

"Boss."

"Officer, those thugs are ruthless! They've got so much ammo it sounds like fireworks!"

"They must have terrible aim! We keep hearing screaming from inside!"

The man leading the squad was Chief Corbett, the head of the local precinct and a Whitmore pawn meant to handle the cleanup.

Whether those eight men inside were dead or alive, they absolutely could not be paraded in front of the public. The best course of action was to officially take them into custody and dispose of them quietly.

Chief Corbett quickly locked eyes with Zeke in the crowd. The uniformed chief gave a grim nod and issued his orders. "Evacuate the civilians first! No onlookers allowed, it's interfering with official duties. Everyone else, gear up. If the suspects resist, shoot to kill."

Honk—

Just as the crowd began to push back, a black stretch Lincoln town car slowly rolled onto the crowded concrete road.

"Who's that? Didn't they hear? You can't go in there!"

The panicked crowd was forcefully split down the middle.

Chief Corbett glanced back at Zeke and gave his subordinate a look. The officers pulled out their badges and marched up to block the car.
