Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 612

Stormhollow.

The Blackthorne Residence.

This was the umpteenth time Isolde had jolted awake from a nightmare.

Her fragile eyelids fluttered wildly as she sat up, clutching her racing heart. A thick layer of sweat coated her forehead.

Another nightmare.

This time, she dreamt of unseen hands shoving her behind that heavy iron door. People violently tore at her clothes while she screamed for help, but the door was welded shut. There was no escape.

Despair. Helplessness. Sheer terror.

Suffocating chains weighed her down.

She watched the cracked window above her spin out of control, the world crumbling before her eyes. Then, her face morphed into Mina's.

All the pain, sin, and filth had been transferred.

Isolde turned her gaze to the window. The moonlight filtered through the creamy lace curtains, casting shadows of tulips on the floor. Her mind finally cleared a little as she took in her surroundings.

The soft bedding, the fragrant room, the perfect temperature—everything was a reminder that her suffering was over.

Isolde rubbed her throbbing temples and picked up her phone from the nightstand.

Four in the morning. A new day, though the sun had yet to rise.

She leaned against the headboard, staring blankly at the dark screen.

Suddenly, the screen lit up. A message seized her attention.

[Dear esteemed Hunter, welcome to The Eden Club.]

Isolde’s unfocused gaze sharpened instantly.

Preston.

She had received an invitation from Preston Everhart before, but back then, she had merely been a prey meant for their twisted entertainment.

What did Preston mean by this? Hadn't he said their game was over?

A dark undertow swirled in Isolde's eyes.

A new game?

Isolde peered out. A convoy of five security vehicles led the way, with ten SUVs trailing behind them. At every intersection, traffic police had cleared the roads, halting all incoming cars to make way for the Blackthorne family's motorcade.

This level of privilege was worlds apart from her life just a few days ago.

Who could have imagined that three days ago, she was a miserable wretch with no way out, and today, her mere presence on the road dictated the traffic of half the city?

The convoy moved from the bustling downtown to the desolate outskirts. The closer they got to the slums, the heavier Isolde's expression became.

She turned to Edmund, her eyes brimming with anxiety.

Knowing exactly what was on her mind, Edmund patted her hand reassuringly. "Don't worry. I'm here."

That phrase might have comforted Mina, but it did nothing for Isolde. She had lived in the dark for far too long, where the slightest misstep could cost her life. In this world, the only person she could rely on was herself.

"Mr. Blackthorne, we've arrived."

The vehicles rolled to a stop along a dusty dirt road. No matter how luxurious the cars were, they couldn't escape the grime of this place.

"Take a walk with me?"

Isolde looked at Edmund in confusion. She didn't understand why they had come here to relax. The buildings in this district were rotting and dilapidated, and the people who lived here were no different.
