Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 618

Alaric sat down in the living room, his expression unreadable.

"Did he talk?"

Hawke shook his head. "These guys are mercenaries trained by local warlords. Their mouths are glued shut. You could break every bone in his body, and he wouldn't say a word. But based on his build and his combat style just now, I can guarantee he's the guy who traded shots with me three years ago. I found this seal on him."

Alaric took the seal and examined it. "A token?"

Hawke nodded. "The assassination in Alderwick three years ago was a coordinated team op. These seals usually indicate the operative's identity."

"Identity?" Alaric scrutinized the seal. "Have you found their hideout in Merriton City?"

"Still tracking it down," Hawke replied. "These rats are crafty. If that explosion hadn't randomly wiped out their shipment, we'd still be looking for a needle in a haystack."

Alaric's fingers paused. He tossed the seal back to Wesley. "Keep pressing him. Dorian Ravenshire is definitely pulling the strings. If this guy won't talk, figure out a way to draw out the ones who will."

"Understood, Boss," Hawke said with a nod.

Alaric instinctively checked his watch again.

"You really don't have to let me stay here. I can just book a hotel. I'm feeling much better now."

Mina walked Vivienne to the door, ready to leave and find a place of her own.

Vivienne grabbed her arm. "Look at the time. Even if you're going to a hotel, you need to eat first."

Mina shifted awkwardly. "Other than you, I really don't want to see anyone else right now. I should just go."

Since she put it that way, Vivienne didn't push. "Alright. Wait here a second. I'll grab you a jacket."

Mina looked down at the blanket wrapped around her and didn't decline. "I'll wait by the door."

Mina peeked down the hallway and shook her head in awe. "He truly is the man who stole my heart at first sight. He's incredibly handsome. And his fashion sense? God-tier. That sweater color was gorgeous. Cyril is just built different. Not like some guys who can only manage basic black and white."

Just as the words left her mouth, a sound came from the doorway.

Alaric stepped inside, taking off his black coat to reveal a crisp white shirt.

"..." Mina's eyes went wide. She gripped Vivienne's arm like a vice. "Hi, Alaric."

Alaric nodded, his gaze naturally falling on Vivienne. "Have you eaten?"

Vivienne shook her head.

Alaric turned around. "Wesley."

Wesley hauled a massive pile of fresh groceries into the apartment, reciting his pre-planned script with a deadpan expression. "I bought groceries. Does Miss Lexton prefer spicy or mild?"
