Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 651

Vivienne froze.

Talia's eyes grew red. "Before I got here, I tried to convince myself to trust you. To trust that you could handle this, that you knew what you were doing. But..."

Talia realized her emotions were bubbling over and forcibly reigned them in. "But when I saw you locked in this pitch-black, freezing room with no heating, I couldn't convince myself anymore."

"You're only sixteen. How much of the real world have you actually seen? I am terrified to let you handle this on your own. Do you understand how I feel right now? I promised Bianca I'd bring you to the hospital to see her. I promised her."

Vivienne nodded quietly. "I know."

Talia tilted her head up, blinking back the moisture in her eyes. "Did you read the defense script Mr. Caine gave you?"

"I read it."

"Dorian and your uncles orchestrated all of that. The courts, the prosecutor's office, the media spin—they have it completely handled."

Vivienne's fingers curled slightly.

Talia stared at her relentlessly. "You aren't going to use that script in court, are you?"

Vivienne's eyes widened in genuine surprise.

Talia didn't know whether to be furious at Vivienne's stubbornness or relieved by her honesty.

She let out a helpless sigh and gently took Vivienne's hand. "This is the only way we can guarantee your absolute safety."

Vivienne nodded. "I know."

But if she took that route, how was she any different from Jaxen Ravenshire, who committed a hit-and-run and hid away in Solenforth? She would just become another scandalous anecdote for the public to use to criticize the corrupt elites.

A narrative like that would end in public disappointment. It wouldn't carry enough weight to shatter the script.

"You know? If you know, then why... do you have a better plan?" Talia's grip tightened unconsciously. She was desperate to understand what was going on in the girl's head.

Vivienne squeezed Talia's hand back, gently patting her knuckles. "I don't know if it's a better plan. But it's what I have to do right now. Mom, I know it sounds ridiculous to ask you for your unconditional trust without giving you a single reason. So, let's make a bet. If I win, you let me be selfish this one time. Deal?"

"Anyone who studies law in Athelvia knows her name. She is the first and only female Chief Justice in the nation's history."

Realization finally dawned on Mr. Caine. "You want Judge Gresham to preside over this trial?"

The image of Vivienne holding her hand and begging for trust flashed through Talia's mind.

"Compile a dossier on Judge Gresham. I'll make a final decision after I review it."

"..." Mr. Caine hesitated. "Anyone else would be manageable. But if you pull her into this, you will completely forfeit your home-field advantage."

"My advantage?"

Mr. Caine coughed awkwardly. "Judge Gresham has been incorruptible her entire life. She despises anyone who tries to taint the scales of justice with money."

"Don't worry," Talia replied smoothly. "I won't be offering her a single dime."

Mr. Caine: "..."
