The Blackthorne Residence.
Drawn by the sound of the explosions, Edmund Blackthorne stood by his study window, watching the distant sky light up in brilliant flashes.
"Dad." Sterling Blackthorne pushed open the door and handed over a stack of documents. "The Whitmore family won't be able to escape this time."
Edmund took the files, scanning through them meticulously. Confirming the details, the heavy anxiety weighing on his chest finally lifted.
Thank God they had managed to turn the tide. At the very last moment, the Blackthorne family's massive gamble had paid off.
The spectacular fireworks outside perfectly mirrored Edmund's triumphant mood. Suddenly remembering something, he instructed, "Make sure to bring Mina home."
Sterling's expression grew complicated. "Mina and Isolde..."
Following Rowena's death, Isolde had finally found closure and had become noticeably more cheerful. Just a few days ago, she had even mentioned wanting to test into The Academy of Military & Governance.
In stark contrast, Mina had grown increasingly withdrawn. Even when the family tried to reach out, her reactions remained entirely flat.
Edmund pulled his gaze from the window. "You can't rush these things with kids. Let time heal the rest."

Meanwhile, at the Whitmore estate.
Frederick Whitmore stared up at the sky, the intermittent flashes of light reflecting in his despairing eyes. The once-formidable patriarch of the Whitmore family seemed to have aged a decade overnight.
"Dad." Gideon Whitmore slid the glass door open and stepped into the courtyard.
Frederick lowered his head, wiping at the corners of his eyes. "Is everything ready?"
Gideon, sporting heavy stubble, looked utterly devoid of his former arrogance. "Dad, do we really have to do this? Is there no other way?"
Frederick simply waved him off, his steps unsteady as he shuffled toward the main hall.
The hall was draped entirely in stark black and white mourning attire. Clutching Damien's Memorial Tablet to his chest, Frederick broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Since when did you team up with Dorian?"
"Mr. Julian!" Lennox's expression hardened as he stepped forward to intervene.
Julian pinned Cyril against a stone pillar with one arm. Seeing Lennox approaching, he shot him a lethal glare. "Get out."
Heath immediately intercepted Lennox, blocking his path.
Cyril raised a brow. Having been force-fed countless drinks all night, he looked genuinely intoxicated.
"Julian, if you keep throwing this tantrum, your little secret is going to become public knowledge."
"..." Julian's breath hitched, his heart suddenly hammering against his ribs.
