With the truth revealed, everyone gathered in the Main Hall, unleashing a barrage of curses.
Alaric sat at the center of the room. No matter how chaotic the environment grew, he maintained an aura of cold detachment. It wasn't until Vivienne and the other two walked into the hall that he finally showed a flicker of reaction.
"Vivienne!" Bianca hopped off her chair, grabbing Vivienne's arms to inspect her from head to toe. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine," Vivienne reassured her. "What about you? Are you okay? What happened out there?"
Bianca pulled her toward the window and lowered her voice. "We're fine. Not long after you and Cyril went to your room, Alaric came back. He said he had a plan to catch the kidnappers and told us we had to play along."
Vivienne glanced at the bruised, battered kidnappers on the floor, everything clicking into place. "Alaric knew it was Preston all along. So he intentionally cut the power to bait Preston's men into acting and caught them red-handed?"
Bianca nodded. "That's exactly what happened. These guys confessed. Kidnapping Jade, sneaking around tonight—all of it was ordered by Preston."
After spending the entire night paralyzed by fear, only to discover they were being played, the girls threw away their aristocratic grace and cursed Preston from head to toe.
"I can't believe Preston is this kind of person. He's gone way too far. What does he think we are? Toys for his sick entertainment?"
"He's an absolute psycho! The Everhart family owes us an explanation!"
"Exactly! We should demand an explanation right now."
Isolde observed Alaric in silence. She had always known Preston was a monster, so his depravity didn't surprise her.
But Alaric was different. His status matched, if not exceeded, Preston's, yet he carried no arrogant superiority, only the composed grace of a true leader.
Tonight, while everyone else was gripped by terror, Alaric had navigated the crisis with flawless precision. His unbothered demeanor made his cold detachment seem elegant and noble.
After a moment of thought, Isolde initiated the second major topic of the night. "Alaric, how did you figure out the kidnapper was Preston?"
She didn't speak loudly, but her question instantly silenced the room.
They owed their peace of mind to Alaric, and they were desperate to know how he had seen through Preston's scheme.
"Yeah, Mr. Ravenshire, tell us, please?"
Alaric lowered his eyes, his gaze turning icy.
His temper wasn't built for catering to their curiosity. Did they really think he had nothing better to do?
Wesley, wearing his usual stoic expression, stepped forward. "Ladies, it's getting late. Since everything is sorted out, you should all head back and get some rest."
