Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 758

Julian froze, the angry flush draining from his face to leave him deathly pale.

Caspian raised his arm, pointing a finger sharply at Julian's shoulder. "Do you think making a little bit of money makes you capable? Have you ever thought about where your capital and leverage come from? Outsiders are only willing to cut you a piece of the pie because they know you're a Ravenshire. Without the family backing, without the resources to secure your first pot of gold, do you honestly believe you'd have a seat at the table?"

Julian still bristled with defiance. "So in your eyes, I'm just worthless?"

"It is the truth," Caspian replied without an ounce of mercy. He then turned to Alaric. "And you. Alaric, you have thoroughly disappointed me."

Alaric looked up, his gaze burning intensely as he met his grandfather's eyes. "I may have disappointed you, Grandpa, but haven't you disappointed me just as much?"

The words plunged like a knife straight into Caspian's heart. The old man slowly lowered his cane, his eyes growing even colder.

Alaric's eyes reddened, and a low, bitter laugh slipped from his lips. "I actually thought you truly favored me. But your favor meant sending me to St. Helorian Chapel when you knew I was being framed. It meant knowingly nurturing vipers right beside me. Grandpa, in your grand, overarching scheme, what am I even worth?"

Julian's expression shifted. A second ago he had felt immensely wronged, but hearing Alaric's words suddenly made his own grievances feel like child's play.

He had always envied how easily Alaric secured their grandfather's total affection, but putting himself in Alaric's shoes now, he was profoundly grateful he wasn't him.

If it had been him experiencing even one of the horrors Alaric had faced as a child, he would have completely broken down. But Alaric had borne it all alone.

Yet, far worse than the past frame-ups and assassination attempts was the cruel truth sitting right in front of them.

The person closest to them had always known exactly who was behind the sinister plots, yet had chosen to play the blind, deaf patriarch.

It was rare for Alaric to show such raw emotion. Seeing Caspian remain silent, he gritted his teeth and demanded, "Tell me, what is this bigger picture?! What exactly is your grand plan?"

Caspian slowly raised his head, his deep eyes cloudy with age and hidden sorrow. He calmly turned to Cyril. "Cyril, tell them. What is the bigger picture?"
