"Tessa, get me a bowl of Hand-sliced Noodles."
Benedict and Talia walked into Echostone House. The moment Tessa stepped out of the back room, she was greeted by Benedict's booming voice.
Talia kicked off her heels and collapsed lazily onto the plush sofa. "If you want to eat, go back to your own wing."
Benedict completely ignored her and yelled toward the kitchen, "Add two eggs!"
Tessa smiled and nodded, then turned to Talia. "Would you like something as well, Ms. Talia?"
Benedict poured himself a cup of hot tea. "You should eat something. You barely touched your dinner."
Talia pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head. "I don't have an appetite."
Tessa didn't push it and retreated to the kitchen to prepare the meal.
Benedict stood up and poured Talia a cup of tea, setting it on the table before her. "What's wrong? Still stressed about Vivienne and Bianca?"
Talia's hand paused. She looked up, her gaze freezing cold. "There is a mole in the Ravenshire family."
Benedict's expression shifted slightly. He didn't argue, simply looking down and nudging the teacup closer to her.
Talia narrowed her eyes, studying his face. "Did you find any new leads on the sniper who targeted Aurelia at Commerce Plaza two years ago?"
Benedict shook his head. "The Shadow Chamber investigated for two straight years. All we ever found was a dead foreign mercenary. Whoever hired him covered their tracks perfectly."
Disappointment pooled in Talia's eyes. "If even The Shadow Chamber can't find anything, the mastermind must be someone sitting right next to us."
Benedict took a sip of his tea. "Stressing over it now won't change anything. I've already spoken with Caspian. We're dispatching a covert squad from The Shadow Chamber to protect Vivienne and Bianca around the clock."
Talia's expression softened slightly.
A few minutes later, Tessa carried in a steaming bowl of rich, savory Hand-sliced Noodles.
Benedict had been starving all night. Unable to resist the mouthwatering aroma, he practically inhaled the meal, draining the broth in record time.
"Don't drip on my cashmere rug," Talia muttered, looking at him with mild disgust.
Benedict wiped his mouth, entirely unbothered, and let out a booming laugh as he stood up. "You're practically swimming in money these days, and you're going to nag me over a rug? By the way, the real reason I came over was to talk business. The coalition government in Feldonia has collapsed. Gigi Island's military regime is taking over. Because we supplied them with heavy munitions during their coup, the Commander of Gigi Island has agreed to sell us the main mining zones and the ruling territory of The Black Triangle."
Talia waved a dismissive hand. "I don't care about the logistics. Just bring me the final invoice. I'll wire you the initial funds."
"Done. I'll drop by with the numbers later."
Business concluded, Benedict offered a few more words of comfort before Talia got annoyed with his rambling and kicked him out.
Tessa came into the living room to clear the empty bowl.
