Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 818

With his rigid aristocratic upbringing, Alaric naturally couldn't accept such a vulgar analogy.

Seeing the icy glare in his eyes, Wesley knew he had hit a nerve.

His eyes darted around nervously. "Boss, if you liked a girl who was already swooning over you, playing hard to get would be fine. But... you just had to fall for the one girl who has you wrapped around her finger. If you keep acting so aloof, someone else is going to swoop in and steal her away."

Alaric couldn't be bothered to respond. He looked back down at his book.

Frustrated by his boss's passivity, Wesley snatched the book right out of his hands.

"Boss, let me remind you—don't let Miss Lexton's crazy, scheming act fool you. She's a magnet for trouble and men."

"Guys these days have a million tricks up their sleeves. Any one of them knows how to sweet-talk a girl better than you do."

"Honestly, aside from your good looks and a bit of family power, you really don't have an edge. Miss Lexton has Ms. Talia backing her up, so she's never hurting for money. And as for power? As long as the Patriarch is around, she might even outrank you."

"..." Alaric stared at Wesley, expressionless.

Every word was a dagger to his pride. He hadn't realized he was apparently such a terrible catch.

After a heavy silence, Alaric coldly snatched his book back. "Get out."

Completely hopeless.

Wesley rolled his eyes internally and hopped out the window.

Vivienne slept until the sun was high in the sky.

She had a very long dream.

In it, Cyril transformed into a snake demon, coiling around her and kissing her while whispering over and over, "I'm completely willing. I don't need you to take responsibility."

The moment his serpentine tail slipped under her shirt, she woke up.

Startled awake.

Vivienne covered her face with one hand, taking a long moment to steady her breathing before the familiar scent of flowers registered in her senses.

Slowly pulling herself out of the dream, she propped herself up on her hands.

The midday sun was intense, carrying the heat of the summer breeze through the room. The absurd, passionate blur of last night felt like just another dream.

She ran a hand through her hair, letting the dark strands fall messily across her shoulders. But what was even messier were the silk sheets beneath her, crumpled into scandalous, twisted folds.

"..."

"Miss."

Just as she was groaning internally, Marissa knocked on the door.

"Are you awake?"

Vivienne immediately smoothed her hair and cleared her throat. "I'm up."

To avoid suspicion, she furiously patted down the wrinkled bedsheets.

Marissa pushed the door open, a warm smile on her face. "Still in bed? The sun is baking the roof."

Usually, she let Vivienne sleep until she naturally woke up, but today, Vivienne was three hours later than usual. Worried she might be feeling sick, Marissa had come up to check.
