Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 839

The sun dipped completely below the horizon, and the city's neon lights took command of the night.

Inside the glass-walled office, the lamps flickered on.

Preston stood by the window, watching the convoy of bodyguards escort Vivienne into her car.

Kael stood beside him, his expression an uncomfortable mix of anger and confusion. "Preston, what the hell is going through your head?"

Only after Vivienne's car pulled away did Preston turn back toward the sofa.

Josslyn handed him a glass of wine. "You actually agreed to kill someone for her. What's the play?"

Given Preston's pride, he was more than willing to kill, but never under the threat of blackmail. Josslyn was genuinely surprised by his swift capitulation.

"The person pulling the strings needs to die anyway. Might as well let her owe us a favor," Preston said, swirling the deep red liquid in his glass.

Kael stormed over, his brows furrowed. "What do you mean? Do you know who's behind this?"

"If you used your brain for five seconds, you'd know too," Preston replied flatly.

"Damn it! There are millions of people in Stormhollow. How am I supposed to guess?"

Josslyn lowered his eyes and took a sip of his wine. "It's someone from the Ravenshire family."

Preston raised an eyebrow, lifting his glass in silent agreement.

Josslyn smiled and clinked his glass against Preston's. "You figured it out, and you still agreed?"

"A Ravenshire?!" Kael looked completely horrified. "No way! Vivienne wants us to take out someone from her own family?!"

"She wants us to kill a specific Ravenshire, not the entire family," Preston corrected.

Kael still couldn't wrap his head around it. "She's just a little girl! How does she have the nerve?! And why would she think I'd actually risk a war with the Ravenshires for her?!"
