This wretched brat. Her mouth was as vicious as ever.
Serena desperately tried to keep her face pleasant. “He might be a little older, but he doesn't show it at all. He has a very youthful mindset, and more importantly, he treats me incredibly well.”
No matter how she spun it, it sounded like pure delusion.
Vivienne hit back ruthlessly. “Is he seventy yet?”
“Of course not! He's just in his early sixties.”
The second the words left her mouth, Serena's jaw clenched. She wanted to slap herself across the face. Grandpa Caspian sitting right in front of her was exactly seventy.
Serena rushed into damage control. “Age doesn't matter to me. He's a genuinely good person, and finding someone like him is enough for this lifetime. Vivienne, I really hope you can give us your blessing.”
Vivienne frowned. “How am I supposed to bless this? You didn't find me a stepdad. You found me a step-grandpa.”
Caspian's eye twitched. As much as he adored and spoiled Vivienne, he had to admit the girl had a downright lethal tongue.
Serena gritted her teeth, forcibly swallowing the venom rising in her throat, and looked at Caspian with practiced distress. “Grandpa Caspian, you see how...”
When it rains, the ground gets wet; when a woman wants to marry, she marries. Serena had zero actual ties to the Ravenshire family, and they had absolutely no right to interfere in her wedding plans.
Caspian cleared his throat and looked at Vivienne. “A wedding is a joyous occasion. Watch your mouth.”
He turned back to Serena. “I've spoiled Vivienne rotten, and I'll have a talk with her later. But try to understand where she's coming from. It's good news, yes, but it's terribly sudden for the child. It's only natural she's having a hard time processing it.”
Serena knew firsthand how fiercely Caspian protected Vivienne. Given her past mistakes, she didn't dare push her luck. She nodded quickly in agreement. “Yes, you're absolutely right. I was entirely too negligent of her feelings.”
Caspian shifted the topic. “You mentioned the wedding arrangements are already settled, and the families are meeting in the next few days?”
