Reginald didn't mind the snub. After all, anyone who dared to slam a hand on the table in front of Dorian Ravenshire in Congress was no ordinary opponent.
"Cedric, does the patriarch have a moment?"
Cedric nodded and led Reginald onto the estate grounds. Just as they rounded the privacy screen, they spotted Bianca Whitmore pushing Vivienne in a wheelchair out of the Main Hall.
Heading in opposite directions, the girls didn't notice the incoming guest.
Bianca looked thoroughly disgusted. "Is Kael out of his damn mind? He actually has the nerve to come after you. Thank God Grandpa is sharp, or that idiot would have given him a heart attack."
Vivienne remained completely expressionless, not uttering a single word.
Still grumbling, Bianca pushed Vivienne toward the inner courtyard.
Meanwhile, at Crown Hospital.
"Vivienne Lexton, you just wait! I’m going to make your life a living hell!"
"What are you screaming about now?"
Josslyn Keating and Preston Everhart pushed open the door to Kael's room, only to find him seeing stars as he viciously stabbed a hospital IV needle into an orange.
Wearing a heavy neck brace, Kael couldn't turn his head easily. "Shut up! Can't you see I'm working on a curse?"
Josslyn frowned. He stepped forward and snatched the orange away. When he saw the name written on it in thick marker, his eye twitched. "Kael, are you insane? You're a grown man acting like a middle-school witch."
Preston stepped closer and inspected the fruit. "You spelled her name wrong. It’s Vivienne, not Vivian. If you mess up the spelling, the hex bounces back on you."
"Shit! Are you serious?"
Josslyn tossed the orange back. Kael inspected it closely, his face turning as black as thunder.
He really had spelled it wrong. Had he just spent the last hour stabbing an orange for nothing?
