The Main Hall fell completely silent.
An arranged marriage?!
Talia Ravenshire’s protective instincts, which had just flared to life, dissipated into pure disbelief. She couldn't decide whether to laugh or scream.
Caspian Ravenshire scowled, his expression laced with rare, unvarnished disgust.
Vivienne Lexton clenched her fists.
She thought Kael Kenyon was a bastard, but she never expected his twisted mind to come up with something so venomous. He wanted to trap her in a marriage just so he could torture her behind closed doors.
She had definitely underestimated the psycho.
Sensing the hostile shift in the room, Leland Kenyon quickly added, "Of course, I know Vivienne is still young. It’s too early for a wedding. But we could secure an engagement first. Let the kids get to know each other, and once she finishes her degree, they can tie the knot. What do you think, sir?"
"I—"
Before Talia could speak, Caspian cut in, his voice brooking no argument. "Absolutely not."
Even though Vivienne expected him to refuse, hearing the absolute certainty in Caspian's voice sent a warm wave of emotion washing over her.
"You decline? But why?" Leland looked genuinely confused. Vivienne was merely the Ravenshire family's ward. Marrying the heir of the Garland family should have been a dream come true for someone of her standing. As he had said, their family didn't care about pedigree. Otherwise, he wouldn't have come personally to propose just because Kael had a twisted obsession with her.
