Alaric?!
Talia was utterly speechless. It took her a moment to find her voice. "And what if Alaric refuses?"
"Then you tell him it was his grandfather's dying wish. If he still refuses, then let him be."
Talia tried to calm the storm raging in her chest. "And the second envelope?"
A faint, warm smile reached Caspian's eyes. "The family registry. I have officially added Vivi to the Ravenshire lineage. But she's not listed under the main house; she has her own independent branch. If she ever falls in love and chooses her own husband, she will marry as a true Ravenshire daughter. Her entire dowry is in that envelope."
"These two wills counteract each other. If one is activated, the other becomes legally void. I am entrusting them to you. Her future is in your hands."
Talia's eyes welled with tears. "Dad..."
Caspian patted her hand gently. "Don't think I'm playing favorites. Her situation is vastly different from Bianca's or Lia's. She's a good girl, and I know my decision is right."
Her emotions swirling, Talia nodded firmly. "I understand. Don't worry. I already see her as my own daughter. Forgive me for speaking bluntly, but even if you're gone, she will always have me."
Hearing this brought an immense wave of relief to Caspian.
He could finally breathe easy.
Ever since he realized Vivienne had come into this world specifically for him, he wondered every single day what the child intended to do.
Then, on his birthday, she would look him in the eye and say, Grandpa, I need you to live to be a hundred.
And it hit him. In her original timeline, he probably hadn't lived to see a hundred. He hadn't even lived long enough to see her grow up.
She had built walls against Serena Lowe, alienated Isabella Lexton, provoked the Whitmores, antagonized the Garlands, and warred against the rest of the Ravenshires. All because, after he died, she had no one left to love her.
Yet, she still saved Bianca, Lia, Mina, and Sophia. She still chose the Ravenshire family. She still came back for him.
At his age, he had long made peace with his mortality. A few extra days or years meant nothing to him.
