Blinking frantically I recalled what had been said moments age,y blood turning cold. They weren’t looking for me exactly, but the famed herbal doctor that I was.
Ever since I began this life, I had kept myself under the radar fono other reason than to be alone. The last thing I wanted was to be identified and found by anyone related to my father wo would have done drastic things I didn’t want to think
about.
Yet it seemed that I had gotten too comfortable. If they had bec able to track me down. Inhaling sharply, I looked at the shocked faces of the men around me, recalling them as the solders. While I was mocked by the maids in the pack they were
there.
They did nothing to help.
I closed my eyes for a moment. I was no longer a Luna Mentify Mur
Forcing away all nervousness I spoke,

“Only your leader should follow me and explain your case.”
Daria, a healer.
I watched as Caleb and his closest guard I recognized as James, me forward, Caleb’s stare seemed to penetrate me deeply and it took everything in me to not react or look his
way.
“We apologize for intruding on your home, Lu…miss.” James spoke, “we are here to request your services in treating one of
our Elders.”
What?
“Elder Gerome has fallen deathly sick, we have gotten pack doctors from all over to help treat him but he is just getting worse. You are our last hope.”
My hands fisted on my dress as I forced my gaze down. There w no other way to treat anyone, especially an elder, without going to them. If I agreed, then I would have no choice but to follow them into the pack and stay for as long as it took. Could I really agree? By the looks of it, they weren’t going to give me
As I looked up, I caught Caleb’s stare and froze. He still hadn’t taen his eyes off me, neither had he said a word. What on earth was he thinking?
I forced my gaze to rest back on James. Thinking of my obligat to patients, I made my decision
“Taccept, but only under a few conditions. When Fanive at you back my presence here will be kept confidential from other packs including the Red Vale pack you will not let my father kry I am here.” I said, my voice hardening despite the nervousness I felt

“Secondly and most importantly, I will only stay for the duration of the treatment. After that I will leave and you are not allowed to step foot in my place ever again. Do you and Your Ala swear by this in the name of your pack?”
“I swear,” Caleb’s voice rumbled hoarsely, sending shivers down my spine. I couldn’t hold back the urge to look at him for one last time.
Once upon a time we had spent a wedding night together, the only night we shared. He hadn’t said any words to me throughout the mating ceremony until that moment. I could stil remember what he’d said then;
“Mate bond or not. You are nothing to me.”
In a matter of hours, I was done packing and moved along on the journey. Throughout, I felt Caleb’s constant stares on me. He had never said a word, yet frustration brewed up in me. Why was he acting so strange?
After that night, I couldn’t deny it I’d grown to resent him. When we’d finally arrived at the pack I tensed, racing myself for what was coming next. When I was announced I was met with all the shocked faces of the pack but managed to keep my cool.
Being led into the pack house I realized that they were leading me to my past room. In the nick of time I’d rushed out to be taken to a guest room. Throughout, Caleb’s stare persisted.
As I unpacked my things in a thankfully new guest room I thought that would be the end of it. I should have known better.
“You have a lot of nerve ignoring me.” Caleb’s voice rang behind me and my blood froze. Whipping my head back I found him at my doorway.
“Alpha Caleb. What are you doing here?” I said in a neutral tone.
“Are you still pretending that you don’t know me? Don’t forget that you are my mate,” he said and I recoiled at that word.
“That was then. What do you want from me?” I snapped and his yes narrowed,
He took a step towards me until I was near his reach. My heart hammered in my chest as I met his stare.
“Three years seemed to have changed you Daria,” he said in a low rumble that made me shiver,
“I’m surprised you didn’t run back into your father’s arms with that stunt you pulled. What I don’t understand is why and how the hell you disappeared and became this?”
