Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 129

When Theodore heard Isabella's question, his heart ached for her… It ached for her cautious reserve.

He shook his head and answered, "I won't. The score between Queenie and me is settled."

When they left in their car, they went past Richard at the junction. Their car windows were tinted, so people outside weren't able to see those within. Those in the car, on the other hand, could get a clear view of those outside, even the blemishes on their faces.

Isabella frowned. She noticed Richard's worthless, secondhand car parked by the side of the road. When he first bought that car, she had chipped in a third of its cost.

At this moment, the windows were lowered, revealing a woman and a child sitting in the backseat.

Isabella was taken aback. Could they be Richard's mistress and illegitimate child?

She fixed her eyes on that secondhand car until it left her line of sight.

She looked at Theodore, her voice carrying a tinge of disbelief. "Did you see that? Did you see the woman and child in Richard's car? It's no wonder he's unable to pay for Margaret's illness. Turns out, he already has another family out there."

Theodore took a look back, following Isabella's gaze. However, Richard's car was no longer in sight.

Isabella let out a bitter chuckle as her eyes became filled with cynicism. "Whatever it is, Giselle was still his biological daughter. He used to love her very much. I always envied her for having a father who loved her. No matter how much trouble she caused out there, he always backed her up…"

Theodore gently patted the back of her hand, giving her his quiet support. "Don't worry. I'll have your back from hereon."

The pair returned home together. The moment they arrived at the gate, they saw Caleb. They didn't know how long he had been waiting for them.

At first, he was in a relaxed state. The moment he spotted Theodore's car, however, he straightened his back and put on a serious expression on his face.

Once Theodore parked his car, Caleb hurried over to the passenger seat and opened the door for Isabella like a gentleman.

"Mrs. Sinclair," he greeted.

Isabella nodded and said, "Thank you, Caleb."

As Caleb followed the couple, he heard Theodore ask, "How's the investigation going?"

Instantly, Caleb snapped back into work mode. He answered, "We're almost done. Here's the information."

Theodore urged, "Go. Now."

Caleb paused. He was still unaware that Queenie was Giselle's murderer. Thus, he couldn't understand why Theodore was in such a rush.

Even though he was extremely curious, his years of professional experience kept him from probing further. He acknowledged immediately, saying, "Got it. I'll book the earliest flight right now."

Upon saying that, he turned around and strode off.

The living room fell silent. As Isabella watched Caleb hurrying off, she asked in a soft voice, "If you're worried that Emma might be in danger, why didn't you tell Caleb about Queenie?"

Theodore walked to her side and organized the information for her. Then, he set the papers down on the table. "I don't want him to be distracted while he's on his way over. Queenie is clutching at straws now. The less he knows, the better it'd be for him to get things done."

Isabella nodded, brushing her fingers gently across the photographs of Giselle that came with the envelope. In a slightly regretful voice, she said, "Would things have turned out differently if Giselle hadn't gotten into gambling, if I hadn't given her Queenie's location, and if she hadn't gone to see Queenie?"

Theodore held Isabella's hand, his heart aching. He gazed at her tenderly as he said to her in a firm tone, "There are no 'if's. What we can do right now is to ensure that Queenie doesn't escape. With Caleb's help, Emma will be able to extradite Queenie back real soon. I made the wrong move. I shouldn't have arranged for her to go overseas."
