Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 128

Not long after Theodore made the call, the sound of a police siren tore through the quietness of the residential area downstairs, drawing closer as time passed.

Margaret stiffened up when she heard the noise. Instinctively, she curled up in a corner of the room, clutching tightly to the hem of her clothes until her knuckles turned white.

Theodore walked to the window and pulled the thick curtains back slightly. When he saw that the police officers and forensics team were hurrying upstairs with their equipment in their hands, he turned and prompted Isabella softly, "Let's make a move for now."

In consideration of his status, it wouldn't be appropriate for him to remain here. If he did, it would actually bring about a lot more unnecessary trouble.

Isabella nodded in acknowledgment. She looked over at Giselle on the bed, and her heart sank even deeper.

As the pair made their way down, they happened to brush past the officers and forensics team who were on their way up. The leading officer even took a second glance at Theodore.

Theodore kept his eyes ahead and remained calm as he strolled downstairs, hand in hand with Isabella.

When they got back to the car, the quiet space finally helped calm Isabella's pounding heart. She let out a long exhale, unsure of what else to say. In the end, she simply uttered a question, "How did it end up like this…"

Theodore took her hand in his, his heart aching when he realized how cold her hand was. He instinctively gave her hand a squeeze, trying to share his warmth with her.

"Could it really have been Queenie?" Isabella asked, turning her face toward Theodore. She was desperate to find an answer.

Theodore's eyes dimmed. He took out his phone and dialed Queenie's number right away. She should have disembarked the plane by now.

As expected, his call went through. Queenie said in a frigid voice, "I didn't think that you'd call me. Why, are you making sure that I haven't run away? Don't you worry. Your secretary is here to keep an eye on me, isn't she?"

Then, Theodore heard Emma calling out to Queenie from afar. "Ms. Klein, I'll send you to the hotel now."

He said straightforwardly, "Queenie, do you know that Giselle is dead?"

If Queenie truly was the one behind the incident, Isabella couldn't believe how a woman could be so merciless. Even after taking someone's life, she was able to leave with such composure.

Was she just that confident in herself, or did she still believe that Theodore would back her up and clean this mess up for her?

The expression on Theodore's face was as dark as it could be as he watched the screen of his phone dim. After brushing his finger by the side of his phone for a moment, he dialed Emma's number.

In an icy tone, he instructed, "Keep an eye on Queenie. Make sure she doesn't leave the hotel at all. I'll contact international law enforcement."

On the other end of the call, Emma replied, "Will do, Mr. Sinclair."

After ending the call, Theodore turned his face toward Isabella, whose face had gone pale. He reached out and caressed her cheeks, which still felt cold to the touch.

She looked at him, her voice trembling slightly. "Theodore… Will you still cover for her this time?"
