Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 132

Theodore drove to the Sinclair residence. His arrival was reported as soon as his car passed the gates, and a maid waited for him at the door. When he got out, she hurried forward to take his blazer, which he had thrown over his arm. She greeted him, "Mr. Sinclair!"

As he walked toward the door, he asked, "Where's Alexander?"

"He's still locked up. He threw a tantrum this morning, so Mrs. Sinclair locked him in. She said that unless he agrees to get married and apologizes to Ms. Logan, she'll keep him locked up until the day of the engagement."

Theodore frowned and paused, absent-mindedly rubbing his cuff links. "Where is she now?"

His voice became lower, and it was hard to discern his emotions. However, it made the maid instinctively lower her voice as well.

"Mrs. Sinclair is in the living room. She just asked the butler to check Ms. Logan's schedule. She said she wants to apologize to her in person."

Without another word, Theodore headed toward the door. It was quiet, save for the sound of his shoes tapping against the marble tiles. It sounded steady and unyielding.

Before he even entered, he heard Amelia's angry voice through the door. She seemed to be on the phone with someone. Her words dripped with dissatisfaction toward Alexander and apology toward the Logans.

Theodore headed inside. His slippers had already been laid out. The maid had probably done it before stepping out to greet him earlier. She was quick on her feet and hurried forward to hold the door open for him.

Amelia was sitting on the couch in the living room, still looking angry. Her expression only softened slightly when she saw Theodore. "Theodore, you're back."

"I heard you had Alexander locked up," he said as he headed to the couch, seeing the engagement ceremony's itinerary spread out on the coffee table before it. He continued calmly, "Since Alexander insists on calling off the engagement, let's just do it. Our family hasn't fallen far enough to need someone to sacrifice their marriage to keep up appearances."

Amelia looked up at him, the emotions in her eyes unreadable. She said coolly, "Alexander is naive and doesn't know what he really wants for most things. His personality and Ms. Logan's complement each other, so she's the best marriage candidate for him. He'll thank me for stopping him from doing this once they get used to each other's presence in the future."

"Oh? It seems more to me that you're doing this for yourself, Amelia. You've plotted and schemed for so many years to help Alexander climb the ladder, haven't you? Has it ever occurred to you that this isn't the path he wants to take at all?" Theodore's voice turned cold.

"Why don't you tell me what exactly I did? Do you think the Sinclair family would be where we are now if not for me?" Theodore asked, his voice as cold as ice.

"Alexander is your son, but have you ever bothered getting to know him? He likes photography and wants to do that for a living. He doesn't want to be your pawn in fighting for power. Do you really mean well for him by locking him up and forcing him to marry someone he doesn't like, or is it just a way for you to satisfy your obsession with power?"

Amelia was rendered speechless by his sharp questions. Her chest heaved with rage.

The living room fell deathly silent, punctuated only by the sound of the ticking clock on the wall.

After a long moment, Amelia slumped on the couch. The sharpness in her eyes faded, replaced by hints of resentment. "I… I just don't want him to regret this in the future. So many people are eyeing the Sinclair family. He can only have a peaceful and secure life if he holds power."

"Peace and security don't come from sacrificing what he loves." Theodore's tone softened, but it was still resolute. "Let Alexander out first. I'll speak to the Logans about the engagement. Also, what's meant to be Alexander's will always be his."
