Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 141

The commotion that night was no small matter. In the rush to find Isabella, the hotel had turned chaotic. Cleaning tools lay scattered in the hallways from staff frantically checking rooms, and a few curious guests peeked out from behind their doors, whispering about the disturbance.

Theodore held Isabella close, his coat wrapped tightly around her to shield her from prying eyes as he hurried toward the elevator.

When they reached the lobby, they saw Jessie pinned to a couch by two bodyguards. Her hair was disheveled, and her face was still twisted with unyielding venom.

When she caught sight of Isabella, she struggled and screamed, "Don't get smug, Isabella! If I can't get what I want, you're not having peace either!"

Theodore's eyes turned icy. He gestured for the bodyguards to take her away before turning to the hotel manager. He said in a commanding tone, "The Sinclair family will cover all damages that the guests suffered tonight. I want every surveillance record of Jessie Hall's movements here and a list of everyone she's interacted with delivered to me within half an hour."

The manager, wiping sweat from his brow, nodded vigorously. "I understand, Mr. Sinclair. I'll immediately make arrangements."

The siren of an ambulance grew closer. Medical staff rushed into the lobby with a stretcher, heading straight for Alexander, who had just been subdued. He remained semi-conscious, and his face was ghostly pale. As he was lifted onto the stretcher, his fingers subconsciously twitched, as if he were grasping at something.

Isabella watched as he was taken away, and a complicated tangle of emotions welled up inside her.

Theodore noticed her distraction and gently squeezed her hand. "Do you feel any discomfort?"

She shook her head and looked up at him. "Jessie and I used to be such good friends, so I never imagined things would come to this. I just don't understand why she harbors so much hatred toward me."

"Human nature doesn't hold up under pressure. Don't dwell on it, alright? It's over now." He smoothed her wind-tousled hair, his tone soft but resolute. "Jessie will face the consequences of her actions."

As they spoke, the elevator doors opened. Theodore guided Isabella inside, keeping her close as their reflections appeared in the mirrored walls. His protective stance was a barrier against any threat.

"So, the Logan family had no idea you'd been planning to work with them all along?" Isabella asked in surprise. No wonder people said there was no such thing as an honest businessman.

Theodore started the car, tapping his fingers lightly on the steering wheel. He glanced at her with a wry smile and said, "There's no such thing as pure coincidence in business. The Logan family's building materials supply chain fills a gap in our new project, and we were just waiting for the right moment to propose a partnership. Alexander calling off the engagement simply moved the timeline up."

Isabella gazed at the streetlights flashing by outside and sighed. "Won't the Logans feel manipulated if they find out the truth?"

"They're in business too. Profit is all they care about," Theodore said steadily. "This deal will boost their earnings by 30%, so a little 'manipulation' is trivial compared to that. Besides, Alexander calling off the engagement will put them in an awkward spot. Offering this partnership gives them a way out and silences the gossip. It's a win for everyone."

The car glided smoothly into the night. Isabella leaned back in her seat, her mind drifting to Alexander's frenzied words earlier. A dull ache settled in her chest.

Theodore, as if reading her thoughts, reached over and took her hand. "Alexander called off the engagement partly because of you, Bella. I want to know what you think of that."
