The phone went silent for a moment before Theodore's rapid footsteps and a low, furious growl came through. "Find Jessie Hall immediately! I suspect she's abducted my wife! If anything happens to her, I'll make sure this hotel goes bankrupt!"
"Y-Yes, of course, Mr. Sinclair. We're on it!" a hotel staff member stammered.
Isabella's heart sank. She fumbled her way to a couch's armrest, feeling slightly grounded by its cool fabric. "Theodore, Jessie gave me the keycard for Room 1608, and it worked. But now, the door's been locked from the outside. Did she lure you somewhere else?"
She heard a faint thud in the darkness as soon as the words were out of her mouth. It sounded like someone had rolled off a bed and onto the floor.
Isabella froze and swung her phone's light toward the sound. There, curled up on the carpet, was Alexander. His brows were tightly furrowed, and his face was as pale as paper in the faint glow.
"Alexander!" She rushed over and crouched beside him, reaching to help him up. However, he subconsciously grabbed her wrist. His fingers were ice-cold, yet his breath carried an unnatural heat.
Isabella's heart sank. She suddenly recalled Jessie saying that he was "drunk", but this wasn't drunkenness at all!
"Bella, don't be afraid. I'll find you right away!" Theodore's voice came through the phone.
Just then, a notification popped up on her phone, warning that she was running low on battery.
"She must be in this hotel! Search every room now—you have five minutes! I want her found!" Theodore's voice was icy with authority.
The hotel manager, sweating profusely, wondered how he could search 500 rooms in five minutes. It was impossible!
"Theodore…" Isabella said softly.
Theodore asked in concern, "How's Alexander? Is he okay?"
"I think… he's been drugged…"
Theodore's eyes flashed. Then, he said sharply, "Bella, get away from him now. Lock yourself in the bathroom if you can!"
With a click, the door suddenly unlocked and opened. Isabella's head snapped up, and she saw Theodore burst into the room with two bodyguards behind him. His eyes locked on Alexander pinning Isabella down, and his expression turned stormy. He strode over, kicking Alexander off her.
"Get him an ambulance!" he ordered coldly.
One of the bodyguards immediately dialed for help while Theodore kneeled beside Isabella, gently pulling her to his side. "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"
She shook her head, managing a weak smile. "I knew you'd come…"
Three minutes earlier, the hotel manager had been panicking like a cat on a hot tin roof, ordering every staff member—even the kitchen workers—to search all the rooms. Even then, he knew five minutes wasn't enough to cover 500 rooms. He was already starting to despair.
Just then, Theodore had barked, "Jessie did something to the room, so the power's been cut. Go to the main switch, turn the lights for every room on and off, and see which one stays dark. That's how we'll find Isabella!"
The manager's eyes lit up with realization. He rushed to execute the plan, and they ultimately narrowed it down to three rooms. Two likely had faulty wiring, leaving only one to be checked. Sure enough, Theodore found Isabella in no time.
