Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 144

Isabella was taken aback by Alexander's question. Then, she rolled her eyes in exasperation. She'd been wondering why he was so worked up early in the morning. It turned out it was because he thought the flowers were from Kenneth.

"Alexander, did getting drugged once affect your brain?" she asked snarkily.

"Isabella Moore!" Alexander gritted his teeth, fuming. "That's the second time you've insulted me today!"

She raised her voice. "And I'm going to keep doing it! Who told you these flowers are from Kenneth?"

Alexander faltered. His brows knitted together, and suspicion laced his tone. "Are they not? Who'd believe that? The whole company knows he's pursuing you! If not him, then who?"

"Pursuing me? Kenneth? Are you out of your mind, Alexander?" Isabella looked like she had heard the funniest joke ever. "He's my junior, and he has a crush on someone. He's had feelings for her for years! He and I are just upper and underclassmen from the same university, and we're helping each other out. Don't you dare spread nonsense!"

Alexander stared at her, caught between wanting to snap at her and wanting to placate her when she was explaining herself so seriously.

Kenneth was clearly making moves. It was nothing like his subtle crush on her from back then. Could she really not see it? Well, it'd be best if she never did!

"Then, the flowers…" Alexander started.

"They're from Theodore!" Isabella said proudly.

Alexander was rendered speechless. Then, he cleared his throat and eyed her curiously. "So… have you and Uncle Theo really fallen for each other? Don't say I didn't warn you—I've never seen him care about a woman in his life. Don't be foolish and pour your heart into this."

His words struck a chord; Isabella knew all too well what he was getting at. She'd known from the start that she and Theodore came from different worlds. Still, knowing it in her heart was one thing. Hearing it laid bare was another.

Meanwhile, in Theodore's office, his assistant, Wilson Stark, stood nervously before his desk while waiting for instructions. Wilson silently prayed for Caleb and Emma to return soon. Otherwise, he'd have to deal with the cold, expressionless Theodore every day!

"Have the flowers been delivered?" Theodore asked.

Wilson said respectfully, "Yes, sir. Ms. Moore received them herself."

"What was her reaction?"

Theodore didn't even look up. "Yes."

Wilson was so flustered that he couldn't keep the words contained. He blurted out, "Mr. Sinclair, when I delivered the flowers this morning, I heard from the branch office staff that someone's pursuing your wife…"

Theodore paused mid-signature.

Wilson cautiously continued, "It's supposedly her junior…"

"What's his name?" Theodore asked, resuming his signing. His voice had turned low and chilling, though.

Wilson shrank back, feeling sweat beading on his forehead. "I… I didn't ask."

If it were Caleb or Emma, they would've already dug up the guy's entire background by now.

"Find out," Theodore ordered coldly.
