Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 167

The living room downstairs had descended into chaos. Ethan was in a rage, brandishing a gun and aiming it directly at the woman who had caused the scene earlier.

He yelled, "I offered you money, but you refused! I asked what compensation you wanted, and you wouldn't say! What the hell do you want?! Do you think I won't kill you right here and now?"

The rest of the family scrambled to stop him.

"Ethan, don't do anything rash!"

"Calm down, Ethan! There's nothing we can't solve!"

"Do you want another death on your hands? Just solve the problem properly!"

Ethan was blinded by rage. He kept the muzzle trained on the woman, itching to pull the trigger right then and there. "She's just a poor nobody with no background! So what if I kill her? I'll just pay off her family! Isn't money what she wants? I'll make sure she takes the money but won't live to spend it!"

"I don't want your money! I want you to pay for my daughter with your life! A life for a life!" the woman cried out.

Ethan laughed loudly as if he had heard a hilarious joke. His tone was mocking, and he looked at the woman with the same contempt one would have for an ant. "You want me to pay with my life? Who the hell do you think she is? Are you kidding me?"

The woman trembled all over at these words. She suddenly broke free from the people holding her and lunged at Ethan like a madwoman. "You animal! My daughter was only 25! It was bad enough that you ruined her, but why didn't you give her a way out? Huh?

"She was pregnant with your child and dreamed of giving birth to them for you. But you? You wouldn't even spare your own flesh and blood. You're a beast!"

Ethan was forced a half-step back by her lunge. The contempt in his eyes instantly turned into disgust. He lifted his foot and kicked the woman right in the stomach. "You crazy bitch! How dare you!"

The woman screamed and fell to the ground, blood spilling from the corner of her mouth, yet she struggled to reach out and grabbed his pant leg. "Pay for my daughter's life… Pay for it…"

The surrounding people paid lip service to stopping Ethan, but when he actually hit her, they all just stood aside and watched indifferently. As long as no one died right there, they would not interfere. In their eyes, this woman's life was worthless.

"Enough!" A cold voice suddenly cut through the air from behind the crowd.

Theodore walked down the stairs. His dark gaze was glacial and inscrutable. The sheer, oppressive weight of his presence was enough to choke the room into absolute silence. His gaze landed on Ethan's face.

"Uncle Theo…" Ethan panicked immediately and silently put away the gun.

"Where did you get that?" Theodore asked in a deep voice.

Ethan's eyes darted around, but he dared not ignore Theodore's question. He could only stammer, "A-A friend gave it to me…"

"Get rid of it." Theodore's tone was icy, carrying a command that brooked no refusal.
