Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 173

"Isabella! Stop!"

Theodore's voice sounded torn due to overwhelming panic.

He was terrified the moment he looked up and saw Isabella standing on that windowsill. His heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand, and it skipped a beat in sudden terror.

Theodore had never experienced such heart-stopping panic before. His gaze was locked tight on Isabella's figure. Standing on the windowsill, she looked like a fragile butterfly that might fly away at any moment.

Isabella opened her arms.

All color drained from Theodore's face.

He practically scrambled over, his leather shoes screeching against the smooth pavement. He could even hear the roar of blood rushing to his head.

"Isabella! Don't you dare!"

For the first time, his voice carried a tremor that even he found unfamiliar.

Isabella seemed not to hear him at all. The wind lifted her clothes, looking just like butterfly wings preparing for flight.

Theodore's heart clenched tight.

Isabella's shoulders trembled imperceptibly.

Theodore held his breath, staring fixedly at her movements. He was afraid to even breathe too loudly. Just when he thought there was hope, Isabella suddenly smiled and pitched forward.

Theodore's pupils constricted. He let out a roar and lunged forward on instinct, but it was not enough. The distance was too great. He watched helplessly as Isabella fell from the second floor and landed right in front of him.

The commotion had already attracted the neighbors. Whispers and gasps flooded his ears like a tide, but he could not hear a thing. All he knew was to stumble to Isabella's side and reach out with a trembling hand.

"Isabella… Isabella!" His voice was raspy. When his fingertips touched her cold cheek, tears slid from the corners of his eyes.

She had fallen from the second floor, and he did not know where she was injured. However, seeing her flushed face and delirious state, Theodore guessed she had been drugged. He carefully gathered her into his arms, moving as gently as if he were protecting a fragile treasure.

The person in his arms was as light as a feather, yet he felt a weight that made it hard to breathe. A patch of stinging red stained his shirt, and his eyes reddened.

"We're going to the hospital," Theodore said. He then carried Isabella into the car and drove off. At the same time, he called Caleb.

Caleb and Emma were on standby 24 hours a day, so the call was quickly answered. Even though he had been asleep just a second ago, Caleb instantly entered work mode upon receiving Theodore's call.
