When Isabella returned to her table to pack her things, the news of her transfer had already spread throughout the company. Lisa was nowhere to be seen, but Gavin approached her with a grin.
"Isabella, I always knew you were talented! And sure enough, Mr. Sinclair recognized it too. Your future is incredibly bright! I still remember when you started as a clueless trainee, and I walked you through everything. Two years later, you're already standing on your own!"
Isabella chuckled. Hidden in his words was a reminder not to forget how much he had helped her.
As if she could forget. When she first started and was clueless, he'd tricked her into drinking with clients. She'd almost been in trouble if not for a kind colleague saving her. Without that, he might have destroyed her.
"Yes, you've helped me a lot, Mr. Peck. Without your training, my alcohol tolerance wouldn't be this good."
Gavin forced a laugh, catching the sarcasm in her tone. However, he could only plaster on a smile.
"The more skills you have, the more advantages you gain," he said. "As Mr. Sinclair's secretary, you'll surely have to accompany him to business dinners. Thus, having a high tolerance for alcohol will only benefit you."
Isabella picked up her things and flashed him a smile. "Don't worry, Mr. Peck. If I ever get the chance, I'll be sure to put in a good word for you in front of Mr. Sinclair."
However, the moment she turned away, her smile vanished. She couldn't keep up the act for another second.
…
Isabella hadn't even set her belongings down after arriving at the secretary's office before receiving an internal call from Alexander.
"Ms. Moore, I need you to organize all the company's project files since its founding and have them on my desk before the end of the day."
With that, he hung up before she could even get a word out.
A surge of anger coursed through Isabella, but she forced herself to take a few deep breaths and eventually calmed down.
"What's the data on the third point?" Theodore, who seemed not to be listening, suddenly cut in.
Everyone present winced on the executive's behalf. Those who had worked for Theodore for over two years understood what it meant to be called out during a report.
They had witnessed how he fought tooth and nail in the business world to secure his position as the head of the Sinclair family. In his books, mistakes weren't tolerated.
"Uh… the investment output ratio is 15," the executive stammered.
Everyone lowered their heads, scared to look at the camera until they heard Theodore say, "Continue."
The executive who had been questioned felt like he had just been pulled back from the edge of a cliff. He quickly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
