Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 24

"Ms. Moore, come to my office," Alexander ordered.

Isabella had been swamped all morning. She knew he was definitely doing this intentionally. One moment, he'd have her look up some data, then he'd want her to revise the numbers.

Next, he'd ask for coffee without specifying his preferences. When she brought it to him, he'd complain it was too sweet or too bland. He was clearly trying to wear her down.

Isabella had barely managed to sit down when the internal phone rang again. That sound now triggered an instant wave of irritation. She'd had enough, and this time she was going to lose it.

She jumped up furiously and marched toward Alexander's office like she was heading into battle, slamming his door open.

"What do you need now, Mr. Sinclair?" she asked through gritted teeth.

Alexander tossed a folder at her feet and said coldly, "Did you draw this?"

Isabella bent down to pick up the folder. She recognized her own work at a glance, then frowned at him.

"What's wrong with it? This is the advertising design I drafted for Fruitopia Group. Is there a problem?"

He replied, "This design has been flagged for plagiarism. Now they want to sue us. What are you going to do about it?"

Isabella was stunned. She could accept criticism of her artistic skill, but not plagiarism.

"Which idiot said that? Bring them here so I can confront them face-to-face. What exactly did I plagiarize? From who? Explain it clearly!"

"SunnyBite," Alexander said.

"Who?" she asked, raising her voice.

Alexander slammed his pen down hard on the desk and shouted, "Why are you being so unreasonable? I'm not here to debate who's right or wrong. Instead, I'm trying to help you solve the problem. Are you seriously going to throw your career away over this?"

"And why shouldn't I?" Isabella retorted.

But looking at his expression, she knew the company would never stand up for her. She could understand that, but the fact that he didn't believe her either was disheartening.

"If you insist that I apologize, then I quit. I'll never apologize to her. Ever!"

Isabella walked out and shut Alexander's office door behind her.

She closed her eyes tightly, fighting the tears that threatened to spill. She'd told herself he was nothing to her now but just another face from her past. Yet his lack of faith in her cut deeper than she'd expected.

A wave of exhaustion hit her, making her feel lightheaded. Without grabbing her bag or caring about leaving before the workday ended, she took her phone and left the building. After all, she'd already said she was resigning.
