Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 25

Emma suddenly shot up from her chair, startling Caleb.

"What's wrong? What happened?" he asked, looking up from his desk.

"Didn't Mr. Sinclair ask me to keep an eye on Ms. Moore at the branch office? I just learned that a contract she previously handled has been accused of plagiarism," she said anxiously.

Caleb immediately tensed up. After all, that matter was related to their boss' wife. No one knew better than the two of them how important Isabella was to Theodore.

"Go and inform Mr. Sinclair now," Caleb urged. "I'll get the full details right now. Darn it! Who's stupid enough to mess with Sinclair Group?"

While he frantically grabbed his phone to start making calls, Emma hurried toward Theodore's office.

The morning had started sunny and clear in Solara, but now dark clouds suddenly gathered overhead. Heavy rain began pouring down like a waterfall.

Isabella sat on a park bench, collecting evidence to prove the design was her original work. She hadn't been paying attention to the weather. By the time she noticed, the rain had already started. She scrambled to find shelter, then looked up and froze.

Theodore was walking toward her with a large black umbrella. He took long strides through the curtain of rain. Despite the blurred visibility, they locked eyes and stared intently at each other.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Are you cold?"

They spoke at the same time, then their eyes met, and they both smiled.

Isabella shook her head and said, "I'm not cold, just soaked."

Theodore tilted the umbrella toward her. "Get in the car first. I brought some dry clothes."

As they walked to the car together, she asked again, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to pick you up," Theodore replied.

Isabella wanted to ask how he'd known where she was. But before she could speak, they'd reached the car.

He opened the back passenger door for her while he went around to the driver's seat.

She said nothing, then quickly changed her clothes. Her pants were also wet, but his shirt was long enough that she didn't need to wear anything underneath.

He cleared his throat softly.

When Isabella looked up, she caught sight of Theodore's reflection in the rearview mirror and froze. He'd had a perfect view the entire time.

She tried to reason with herself. They were married, and intimacy wasn't new between them. She tried to convince herself it wasn't a big deal.

Theodore said, "I didn't mean to look. I just happened to glance up."

Isabella's face immediately turned red. Fortunately, her phone rang at that moment, sparing her from the embarrassment.

She hurriedly grabbed her phone and answered without checking who was calling.

Alexander's furious voice cut through the car's silence.

"Isabella! Did I give you permission to leave? Get back here now!"
