Cheated Once Cherished Forever: The Billionaire's Bride novel Chapter 95

It was so quiet.

Before Isabella opened her eyes, the first thing she thought of was how quiet her surroundings were. In fact, it was so quiet that she could hear the sound of her own heartbeat.

Then, she opened her eyes slowly, only to realize that she was in complete darkness. Where in the world was this? How did she end up here?

She tried to shift herself but realized that every ounce of energy seemed to have drained from her. She remembered it now. She had been abducted!

Her heart sank, and her heartbeat went wild. As her heart pounded against her chest, the tips of her fingers trembled.

She blinked as hard as she could to try to adapt to the darkness around her. Nonetheless, everything was so quiet that only her own heavy breathing and heartbeat echoed in this space.

"Margaret…" she uttered silently as she kept her teeth clenched.

She couldn't think of anyone else, other than Margaret, who would target her. She couldn't believe that Margaret actually resorted to such lowly measures just to extort money.

She attempted to flex her wrists, then realized that she wasn't bound. However, the ether from before was probably still in effect, so she felt weak all over and couldn't exert much force.

She took a deep breath, then slowly propped herself up to a sitting position. Unintentionally, she came in contact with a piece of fabric that felt warm to the touch. It wasn't the icy cold floor but a piece of clothing that carried some warmth.

She froze, holding her breath momentarily. She wasn't here alone? Was there someone else here too?

She cautiously reached her hand out, tracing the warm cloth gently. Her fingertips soon came in contact with a person's arm, and she could even feel their even breath.

That person seemed to have been startled by her touch. He let out a soft groan. His voice was hoarse, but it sounded extremely familiar to Isabella.

"Who are you?" she asked, her voice trembling subtly.

He let out another soft and deep groan.

"A-Alexander?"

Isabella felt like her heart was being wrenched. Even the tone of her voice changed.

Why was Alexander here too? Margaret didn't even know who Alexander was. Unless… it wasn't Margaret who abducted her?

Alexander seemed to have just regained consciousness. He shifted his body, and a groggy rasp came from his throat. "Isabella? What are you doing here?"

Their eyes met in the dark as they each caught the shock and suspicion in the other's voice.

Initially, Isabella was certain that Margaret had abducted her for the sake of money. But from the looks of it now, that wasn't the case. Otherwise, Alexander would not be here at all.

This wasn't just a simple abduction like she had thought.

She shifted forward slightly before coming to a stop when she felt that she was close to Alexander. Then, she said, "I was abducted. How about you? How did you end up here?"

He propped himself up against the ground to get to his feet. He staggered as he ran his hand along the wall.

The design of this place was quite unique. There was even leather stuck on the wall?

Something wasn't right. Why did this feel so familiar? Alexander knitted his brows together.

Isabella, too, got to her feet. With her hand close against the wall, she shifted forward bit by bit.

Their footsteps sounded exceptionally clear in the dark. From time to time, they'd bump into one another before hurrying in separate ways.

"We're… We're at Carrfield Bar!" Alexander declared in a frigid voice.

No one knew Carrfield's Bar interior design better than he did.

Isabella's heart sank. Just as she was about to speak, she heard someone speaking, albeit vaguely. In the next second, the door flung open with a loud bang.

Bright light shone into the room, its glare forcing Isabella to squint.

"Oh? Mr. Sinclair, Ms. Moore, you're awake."

A man whose voice they didn't recognize continued in a playful tone, "Now that you're awake, let's get down to business!"
