Giselle ground her teeth in furious jealousy.
She hadn't expected Vanessa to come so well-prepared. Not only did she have a knack for seducing men, but she also managed to sweet-talk Mrs. Howard into submission.
Elaine narrowed her eyes slightly, a shadow of malice flickering in her gaze.
Benedict leaned back into the sofa, silently observing everyone's reactions as an amused smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
At that moment, a maid stepped forward to quietly announce that dinner was served.
"Looks like almost everyone is here. Let's head to the table," Julian said, glancing at Benedict. "Go give him a call and hurry him up."
"Got it," Benedict replied.
Giselle seized the opportunity to step forward, pulling a velvet box from her purse. She held it out to Benedict with both hands, her face flushed with feigned shyness.
"Mr. Howard, this is the watch you left at the hotel last time. I've been keeping it safe for you, but since I didn't have your contact info, I couldn't return it sooner."
She popped the box open to reveal a gold Rolex, gleaming with understated luxury.
Her words caused everyone who had just started moving to stop dead in their tracks, turning their heads to stare.
The hotel... Such a suggestive location was more than enough to spark wild imaginations among the guests.
Benedict's cold gaze dropped to the gold Rolex, a mocking sneer curving his lips.
"I would have forgotten if you hadn't brought it up. The last time we had dinner, you conveniently spilled wine all over me. The watch I left behind while changing clothes was actually swiped by you."
Giselle's face went deathly pale, her fingertips tightening as her hand holding the box froze mid-air.
She was mortified and enraged, never expecting 'Alistair' to be so ruthless as to expose her little scheme right in front of everyone.
"Mr. Howard, you misunderstood me. I really didn't mean to..."
"I certainly hope I misunderstood you, Miss Grant."
Elaine hastily stepped in to smooth things over. "Mr. Howard, this is definitely a misunderstanding! Giselle is a sweet girl. You're Vanessa's fiancé—how could she possibly harbor any inappropriate thoughts toward her own sister's fiancé?"
Sister's fiancé?
Did she get something terribly wrong?
