Claimed by the Crown Heir novel Chapter 163

Lucas's dark pupils shrank as a flash of panic crossed his eyes.

"Vanessa, you said that no matter what mistake I made, you'd give me one chance!" He pulled a handwritten agreement from his pocket and held it out to her. "You can't just give me the death penalty without a trial."

Vanessa gave it an indifferent glance.

The memories she had intentionally buried rushed back to the surface, catching her off guard.

On his twentieth birthday, she had cooked a massive feast and baked a cake from scratch. As he blew out the candles, he had looked at her with burning eyes and demanded a promise.

He wanted her to vow that no matter what he did wrong in the future, she would forgive him unconditionally just once.

That was the year they were most deeply in love, and she had nodded without hesitation. Lucas had even grabbed a pen and paper, making her write down the commitment.

Signed and thumb-printed.

She had truly believed their love was pure. They had survived the hardest times together; even if he did mess up, she thought it wouldn't be unforgivable.

But she never anticipated that he would dare to cheat on her behind her back.

Seeing her silence, Lucas's voice grew hoarse. "We used to be so in love. You said you'd stay with me forever. Does none of that count anymore?"

People in the company lobby were starting to stare.

Vanessa had no desire to turn this toxic relationship into a public spectacle.

"Follow me."

She walked straight toward the coffee shop across the street, and Lucas scrambled to keep up.
