Vanessa stayed locked in her hotel room for two straight days. She spent every waking hour contacting buyers to offload her shares in Vortex Group.

On the third day, the front desk notified her to settle the room charges. When she tried to pay, her card declined due to insufficient funds.

The backup credit card Lucas had given her was frozen, too.

She unblocked Lucas's number and called him.

"Lucas, what gives you the right to touch the money in my accounts?"

She had previously used his computer for online banking and hadn't bothered to hide her passwords from him.

So the second her accounts went empty, she knew he was behind it.

"Vanessa, every cent you have came from me. If you want out of this relationship, you aren't walking away with a single penny of my money."

"Ha!"

She actually laughed out loud at the sheer audacity.

"Lucas, you really think you're that powerful?"

She hung up and blocked him immediately.

Staring at the disconnected call, Lucas's face turned livid. He gripped his phone so tightly that his knuckles turned white and the veins on his hand bulged.

His assistant rushed in, hesitating before speaking.

"Mr. Lowery, the house was sold by Vanessa two days ago, heavily below market value..."

That morning, Lucas had ordered him to find a locksmith to change the locks, only to discover the property had already been sold.

"Impossible! Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?"

Lucas's jaw clenched, his dark eyes turning lethally cold.

That house was bought with his first major paycheck. It was his and Vanessa's first real home. She had decorated every single corner with meticulous care and cherished the place more than anything. How could she bear to sell it?

"I... I'm positive. She's been staying at the Marriott for the last few days."

The assistant hurriedly relayed the information he had just dug up.

Lucas snatched his car keys and bolted past him like a hurricane.
