Claiming their Omega (Suzi de Beer) novel Chapter 13

  1. DAISY

Elias looked like he was going to pass out.

His skin was paler than normal and clammy. Alexander had to help him out of the truck and into the elevator. The moment he let him go and moved forward to enter the code for the penthouse, Elias slid down to the floor.

I wanted to help, but I was unsure what to do.

When we arrived at the penthouse, Alexander easily pulled him to his feet. I followed closely behind them as they stumbled down the hall into what had to be Elias’s room.

Pull the covers back,Alexander ordered.

I hurried forward and did as he ordered before I stepped back.

Alexander gently lowered Elias to the bed. He gripped the hem of his shirt and tugged it upwards. Arms up,he ordered.

With a low groan, Elias raised his arms and allowed Alexander to pull off his shirt.

I turned away, trying to look at anything but Elias. For some reason, my eyes were drawn to the pale skin. His torso was firm but not overly muscled. But what caught and held my attention were the scarred skin on the left side of his upper chest, side and what I could see of the back. It was stupid of me to assume that only his face got injured in the explosion.

My stomach twisted with nausea as a wave of guilt flooded me.

Daisy. In the kitchen, second cabinet to the left of the fridge, there’s a blue bottle. Bring me two of the pills inside and a glass of water.

I nodded and hurried out of the room.

Locating the medicine cabinet, I grabbed the blue bottle and read the label on it, but the long medical names confused me. I took two pills as he instructed and filled a glass with ice water before I hurried back to the room.

-you don’t ever fucking put yourself in danger like that again.

My steps faltered in the doorway. I had only caught the end of their conversation but I wished I had heard everything so I could figure out what was wrong with Elias.

Alexander straightened and turned, eyes locking on me. He held out his hand.

Hurrying forward, I handed the water and pills over to him.

He made Elías drink the pills and then placed the glass down on the bedside table. Pressing a hand to the small of my back, he led me out of the room and firmly closed the door behind us.

Let him sleep,Alexander ordered. I’ll make some calls and see if I can get this shit sorted out.

Alexander walked away, leaving me standing in the hallway.

My phone pinged. I pulled it out of my pocket as I made my way back into the kitchen. It was a message from my mother. She was sorry for running late but she wanted to know why I wasn’t waiting for her because when she

got there she had been told that I left with a handsome man.

I ignored her message. If she had arrived on time this would never have happened.

My eyes darted around the apartment and locked on the TV in the living room. Was it on the news? How many people saw it? Panic clawed up my throat as I thought about all those people staring at me on TV.

I went searching for Alexander and found him in the room Elias had let me read the report.

He stood in front of one of the floortoceiling windows with a phone pressed to his ear.

Is there nothing we can do about it?he asked. Okay wait, what channel?

Walking over to the other side of the room, he picked up a remote from the coffee table and switched on the TV that was mounted against the wall. He instantly turned it to a news channel.

My knees weakened, forcing me to lean back against the wall as I watched the scene replaying.

It showed the front of the restaurant where we had been for a few seconds before the door opened and I stepped out. Cameras were pushed in my face. Alexander stepped out behind me and glanced around.

Alex! Alex! Is it true that someone stole over a million dollars from one of your hotels?”

Mr. Wyatt! How’s the development going with the seaside hotel?

“Who’s the omega?

Is she your new mistress?

It was when my panic attack started.

My eyes widened when Alex picked me up and carried me to the car. The journalists pushed at each other, making everything go blurry until the driver pulled out a gun. Someone screamed. And then Alexander climbed into the car with me. His driver turned and pointed the gun at someone and then sprayed him with water.

It proves that the gun is not real,Alexander growled into the phone. They can’t-Whoever he was talking to on the phone cut him off.

Muttering a curse under his breath, he changed the channel.

It showed the car parked in front of a rundown building and Alexander leaning into it. A moment later he straightened with me in his arms once again. We disappeared into the building and were shown walking past a few windows before the video ended.

Alexander switched off the TV and turned around.

I tensed, waiting for him to call me out for eavesdropping, but he didn’t.

Just see what you can do about it.He ended the call. I have a team working on getting the videos removed but I’m afraid it’s already been spread across the internet.

Oh.

His lips twitched. Are you just going to stand there, Daisygirl? You can come in and take a seat, I won’t bite.

My eyes dropped to his mouth for a few seconds and then darted back up to his. You look like your bark is worse than your bite.

A low laugh fell from his lips. I was wrong about you,he muttered once his laughter died down.

They can’t get rid of it, can they?I asked him softly.

He shrugged broad shoulders and slumped down in the chair behind his desk. Honestly? No. We just have to wait it out and hope that something else catches their attention and they forget about us.

My eyes darted around the room.

It was decorated with dark brown furniture. The walls however were painted a dark grey that matched the colour of the pillows on the three couches. Photos decorated the wall on either side of the TV. There was a shelf in the corner with trophies and medals on it.

Elias’s awards,he said softly. He threw them out, but I took them and placed them on the shelves.

He doesn’t know?

He does.Alexander’s lips twitched. He just pretends that they aren’t there.

Why did he throw them out?

Ask him about it someday,he muttered. Now tell me, what can I do for you?

I just wanted to ask you about the videos,I lied.

Alexander tilted his head to the side. You did.

It was probably his way of telling me to get out. I nodded and then spun around to leave but he called me back.

Pausing, I turned slightly to look at him. Yes?

Have you forgotten about your proposition?

Colour flooded my cheeks. I hadn’t forgotten about what I said, but I thought that he was going to pretend that it hadn’t happened.

“I just said it to keep my mind from-

Come here,he interrupted me.

I swallowed and before I knew it, my feet were moving. Stopping in front of the desk, I waited.

Alexander ordered me closer with a crook of his finger.

Hesitating for a few seconds, I slowly walked around the desk to his side. He pushed his chair away from the desk and turned it towards me.

Closer,he said softly. Closer.

I stopped before my legs touched his.

I told you that I’m not going fall into your bed.

You did.

But I’ve been thinkingHe trailed off and reached out to grip my wrist gently.

A soft tug had me stumbling forward and straight onto his lap. His arm wrapped around my waist, locking me int place.

We’re going to be stuck with each other for a few weeks so we might as well have some fun,he said softly.

They asked you if I’m your new mistress,I whispered. It’s a bad idea.

His eyes darted over my face. You’re probably right.

Alexander reached up and pulled the clip out of my hair, letting the strands fall free and frame my face. He took a strand between his fingers and raised it to his face. My eyes widened when he sniffed it.

It’s up to you, Daisygirl.

I nodded, but it didn’t make it any easier. What if I said yes and things went wrong? What could go wrong?

Twelve years of my life had been spent hiding away in my room and creating a fantasy world where I experienced everything other eighteenyearolds experienced.

I could experiment with them.

Them?

I blinked.

What about Elias and Valiant?I asked him before I could think it through.

If Alexander was surprised by my question, he didn’t show it.

“If they’re okay with it and you’re sure you want to do this

I wasn’t sure about anything. But at least this would give me something else to think about. Thinking about all the reasons how wrong this would be was the perfect opportunity for me to forget about the videos circling the

internet.

I’ll think about it.

Take your time.Alexander leaned forward and pressed his lips to my cheek. Now go do something else so I can get some work done.

I walked out of the room on shaky legs, my mind whirling with different scenarios of how this could play out.

Before I knew it, I found myself standing in front of Elias’s door. I knocked softly and then opened the door. But I froze with one step inside the room.

It was dark.

I stepped back and softly closed the door again.
