18. VALIANT

I kept telling myself that the interview went well,

They asked Alex a bunch of questions that I didn’t even think of when I wrote the little speech for him. They asked him questions about Daisy’s kidnapping and Ellas’s involvement. We hadn’t expected them to ask about

that.

I tugged at my tie as we stepped into the elevator.

“That was a fucking disaster,” Alex growled.

“Yeah,” I agreed.

“I hope they took my hesitation to their questions as a sign that I know shit about the little omega I ‘rescued‘ from the cafe,” he muttered. “This was a stupid plan. I thought if I did this, it would make them forget about what happened but it feels like I made things worse.”

I nodded. We just dug a bigger hole for ourselves.

“Do you think they were watching the interview?”

That reminded me…I pulled my phone out of my pocket and checked the text I received while we were setting up for the interview.

“Probably not,” I muttered. “They seem to be otherwise occupied.”

I turned the phone to show him the text.

Alex frowned. “Condoms?”

The elevator door opened, halting our conversation.

My eyes darted around, searching for any reporters but there was surprisingly none. I frowned. There were a lot of people milling about. Any one of them could be a reporter disguised as a normal pedestrian.

Maybe it was just what we needed.

I smirked. “Stevens can pick up the stuff on Ellas’s list while we do some shopping.”

A sigh fell from his lips, but he remained silent until we got into the car.

“We have about twenty of those bloodhounds following us and you want to go shopping?”

“Not just any shopping.” My smirk widened when his eyes caught mine. “Our little omega needs some toys. And we need to make sure that we have enough condoms If we’re planning on having some fun.”

“Birth control,” Alex muttered, “We should get her on birth control.”

“We should talk about this before we take any action,” I said. “I will not allow you to be the demanding, controlling asshole you usually are when it comes to Dalsy. I won’t let you be like him.”

Alex growled. “I’m nothing like that bastard.”

I pursed my lips to stop myself from arguing with him. We had a past before we entered the foster system. Despite being so close, we avoided talking about it, but we knew about each other’s past. I was too young to remember much about the life I had before I was sent to live at the foster house where I met them.

“Don’t you have enough toys hidden in that closet of yours we can use?” he asked a few minutes later.

“Probably.” I shrugged. “Mostly male toys and couple toys. Daisy needs solo toys that she can play with on her own. You know for when we’re not around to take care of her needs.”

A scoff fell from his lips. “If we’re not there, Elias will be.”

The smirk slipped away when I realized that he was right. Alex and I had a busy schedule and Elias was always at home. If we had to work late or something, he would be home, tending to her needs.

My lips twisted when the ugly green monster stuck his head out. We didn’t do jealousy. The three of us had shared women before as a pack and I hadn’t felt then what I was feeling now.

“You know that this is only temporary,” Alex said, pulling me out of my thoughts. “We agreed a long time ago that we didn’t want a bonded mate.‘

It was just after a disastrous relationship ended. We were mostly drunk and hurt and made a sort of blood oath.

But things changed.

Daisy fell onto our laps and made me consider a future. I just wanted to set her up with Elias but if she was willing and fine with us sharing her…It made me believe that we had finally found our perfect match.

I pressed the intercom button. “Stevens, drop us off at the Queen of Hearts, please.”

“Right away sir.”

I leaned back in my seat and stared at the passing scenery.

Elias wouldn’t mind having Daisy as our omega, I just had to convince Alex.

I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect when we returned home.

My mind raced with different scenarios we would find them in. All of them were sexual.

My mouth dropped open when I spotted them.

Frowning, I sniffed the air. Not a fucking trace of sex lingering in the air. What the hell had they been doing for three hours?

Elias looked up when Alex placed the bags down on the island.

“How’d it go?” he questioned.

I shrugged.

“They asked about Daisy,” Alex said, not even bothering to lie about it. “And you.”

I kept my eyes on Elias’s face, watching his reaction. He only blinked. Moving closer, I looked at Daisy. She was: fast asleep with her head resting on his lap.

“She’s sleeping?”

Elias raised an eyebrow. “What were you expecting?”

My mouth opened and closed. There was no way I was going to tell him what I had been imagining while we were shopping and on our way home.

I spun around and walked back into the kitchen.

“How long has she been asleep?” Alex questioned.

“About an hour,” Elias answered.

“You didn’t watch the interview?”

“No.”

“Good.”

Alex grabbed a box of condoms from the bag and placed it down on the coffee table in front of Elias.

“Make sure you use one,” he growled. “I don’t want to hear about an accidental pregnancy,”

I smirked.

Of all the things he could be worried about, pregnancy was the only one he was scared of. We had talked about a family of our own once when we thought that we had found the one, but she ruined it and all the hope he might have had of having his own family.

I, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind an accidental pregnancy.

Fuck, just thinking about Daisy’s belly swollen with one of our baby’s made all my blood run south. I shifted from foot to foot as I adjusted my pants.

“We’ll make an appointment at the doctor for-‘

“No!”

I spun around at the sharp exclamation.

Daisy was awake and glaring at Alex.

“I’m not going to a doctor.”

There was a slight quiver in her voice even though her glare was fierce.

“You need to go see a doctor so you can get on birth control. We need double protection-”

“Alex,” I interrupted him. “We talked about this in the car.”

He growled. “Fine. Are you willing to go on birth control Daisy?”

She blinked at him.

Letting out a sigh, he pushed the box of condoms aside and took a seat on the coffee table. He leaned forward with his elbows resting on his knees and silently studied Daisy.

“You don’t have to go to the doctor. She can come here,” he said softly, “I’ll make a call to our family doctor and

“Do I have to?” she questioned. “You’ll be using condoms so there’s no need for me to go on birth control.”

“Condoms break.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I want to make sure that if we fuck and a condom breaks that we don’t have to worry about the consequences.”

“You don’t want to be stuck with someone like me.”

I moved forward, ready to reassure her, but Alex reached for her and pulled her onto his lap.

“I wouldn’t mind being stuck with you, baby girl,” he said softly. “But…you’re still young and we’re not ready.”

“Why aren’t we ready?” I asked them.

Alex glared at me.

“What? It’s just a question.”

Letting out a sigh, Alex pressed a kiss to the top of her head and placed her back on the couch. “You understand what I’m saying, Daisy?”

She nodded.

“Can I call the doctor?”

Her teeth sunk into her bottom lip as her eyes darted between the three of us. I was hoping that she would say no. Getting her pregnant would mean that we get to keep her forever,

“W–what if she tells them that I’m here?”

Elias placed a hand on her thigh. “We trust her with our lives,” he said softly. “Due to doctor–patient confidentiality, she won’t be able to tell a soul about you.”

“If she does, we’ll sue her.” I ignored Alex’s glare and grabbed one of the bags. “We got a little something from you.”

Her

eyes lowered to the bag I was holding out to her and then darted up to mine. After hesitating for a few seconds, she took it and placed it on her lap.

I shifted from foot to foot as I waited for her to take a look inside.

Her eyes widened. Biting her lip, Daisy slowly reached inside that bag and pulled one of the toys out. With colour flooding her cheeks, she looked up at me in question.

“To keep you entertained when we’re not here,” I explained.

“Oh,” she whispered. “Oh…okay. Uhm…thank you.”

That was not the reaction I expected. I turned away and threw Elias the middle finger when I caught his smirk. Two hours spent searching for the perfect toys and all I got was an awkward thank you.

Maybe I should have waited until we took that first step. Then again I thought that it was what they were doing

because Elias asked for condoms.

Shit. I ruined it before it even got started.

“I’m calling the doctor,” Alex announced as he made his way to his office.

I set about unpacking the rest of the bags while I thought of a way to fix what I ruined. Arms slipped around my waist, making me tense. The arms loosened but didn’t slip away.

Daisy slipped to the front of my body. Tilting her head back, she gave me a shy smile. “Thank you, but you didn’t have to get me all those things.”

“I wanted to,” I told her.

Before she could say anything else, I lowered my head and pressed my lips to hers. I swallowed her soft gasp and the moan that followed when I pulled her closer to me.

They didn’t know it, but I was planning on courting the hell out of this little omega and then I was planning on bonding her so she would be forever connected to us.
