I was starting to rethink things.
When I made the suggestion of having some fun with Daisy while I waited for John to pay me back, it was with the thought that she was an experienced woman. But I couldn’t have been more wrong.
She was basically still a kid.
Okay, so she was eighteen and was more mature than any other eighteen–year–olds I knew, but it didn’t change the fact that she was still young and inexperienced.
So fucking inexperienced.
“Why didn’t you tell me that she’s a virgin when we talked this morning?” I asked Elias.
He only glanced at me before focusing his attention back on the TV. “What does it matter? Virgin or not, it won’t change anything.”
“It changes a lot,” I growled.
“Like the fact that you’re second–guessing things now that it’s getting serious?”
Valiant scoffed. “Serious? We’ve exchanged a few kisses. It gets serious when we finally get her naked and in our bed.”
I rubbed a finger against my lips as I silently watched him through narrowed eyes.
Valiant had a good poker face which was why he was such a good lawyer, but we grew up together and I knew all the telltale signs. He had something up his sleeve and I had a feeling that it involved the omega in the guest bedroom.
My eyes locked on Elias again.
“Is that all you’ve done today?” I asked him. “Kiss her?”
His eyes locked with mine. “We were going to do more but none of you had any condoms.”
I rolled my eyes.
Elias should have known that by now. I don’t do random hook–ups like him. One–night stands led to a lot of complications that I would rather avoid.
I sat up and grabbed the remote. Elias said nothing as I switched through the channels until I found what I was looking for. They were currently running a story about some fires in the east due to the rising heat. I waited until they ran the headlines before I switched the TV back to the channel Elias had been watching.
“They’re not talking about her anymore so I guess that we achieved something by doing that interview,” Valiant muttered as he took a seat. “One of the journalists knew about the money that was stolen, why didn’t they take that further? Why did they focus on Daisy and not that?”
I frowned.
He made a valid point.

“Do you think John had something to do with it?” I questioned.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.” Elias shifted in his seat. “Daisy has issues and I’m sure that he was hoping
we’d send her back once those issues surfaced.”
Issues? Fear for the bloodhounds was one of those issues. Fear of the past being repeated was another. What other issues could she possibly have?
Before I could ask questions, the bedroom door opened and our step–sister walked out with Daisy a few steps
behind her.
My lips twitched when I took in her flushed cheeks.
I wanted to know how far down that blush went.
“I just need to take your blood samples for STD testing, and then I’m done,” Erika muttered without glancing up from her notebook.
She placed her black case down on the coffee table and then raised her head to look at us. “Come on! I have another appointment.”
Elias shifted forward and held out his arm. Daisy turned away when Erika pulled out her blood drawing kit.
“You okay?” I asked her.
She nodded.
“Daisy here has a fear for needles,” Erika muttered. “She’s a strong one, brother. Very brave.”
I smiled. “Did you settle on a birth–control method?”
“The injection,” Daisy answered shyly. “It lasts longer.”
“It’s also a lot more effective than the pills or patches,” Erika said. “She can’t forget to take it at the same time every day. It will also be more effective during her heat.”
“When does her heat start?” Valiant questioned with a tilt of his head.
“In about two weeks if my calculations are correct.” Erika gestured for me to move closer. “Daisy told me that it will be her first heat so I’ll bring a care sheet in a day or two when I get your blood results back.”
“We know how to take care of an omega,” I growled.
She shot me a glare. “You’ve never been with an omega in heat.”
“How do you know? We don’t tell you about our sex life.”
“I know because this is the first time you called me and asked me to make a home visit.” Erika flashed me at smile as she started packing her things back into her bag. “Mom expects you to be home for dinner next week Wednesday to celebrate your birthday.”
I glared at her all the way towards the door. Pressing a kiss to her cheek, I warned her to be careful and waited until she climbed into the elevator before I closed the door and walked back into the living room.

Daisy pounced on me the moment I entered the room.
“It’s your birthday next week and you didn’t tell me?”
“Why would I? It’s nothing important,” I told her. “Mom always makes a big deal out of the little things.”
“You only turn thirty–two once,” Valiant called from the kitchen. “Besides, Mom has nothing better to do. We haven’t seen them in nearly four weeks, it’ll be great to see them.”
I rolled my eyes. We went to visit them every second weekend unless something important came up that reminded me.
“Has John called you?” I asked Daisy. “He must have seen the news by now.‘
She shrugged. “I don’t know. I haven’t been on my phone much.”
I nodded. “I have some work to do so I’ll see you tonight.”
Pressing a kiss to her hair, I nodded at Elias as I passed.
There were a few urgent matters that I needed to sort out regarding the new hotel being built. And then there was John. I needed to know what he had been up to during this whole media fiasco regarding Daisy and me. There was no way that he hadn’t seen or heard about it. I had a feeling that John was the one to set it all up.
But I needed evidence before I made any accusations.
“Do you really have to go?”
I turned around to find Daisy hovering a few steps behind me. For a moment I was speechless. I didn’t expect her to follow me.
“Can’t you stay for a little while longer?” She tilted her head to the side slightly and pouted.
Closing the space between us, I gripped her hips and pulled her body against mine.
“I’m a busy man Daisy–girl. I have things to take care of that unfortunately can’t fix themselves.” Lowering my head, I pressed my face to the crook of her neck and sucked in a deep breath. “Once it’s sorted, we can spend as much time together as you want.”
She nodded.
I parted my lips and licked her skin. A groan fell from my lips.
Fuck, I shouldn’t have done that.
Her taste assaulted my senses, numbing my mind and demanding that I take care of the omega.
“Is my sister certain that your heat starts in two weeks?”
Because I couldn’t help myself, I had another taste. My cock stirred to life.
Slipping a hand into her hair, I tugged her head back and slammed my lips down on hers. I kissed her like I was a man starved for air. Only it wasn’t fair I was after.

A shudder raced down my spine when Daisy let out a little moan. I pulled her closer, needing to feel more of her.
“Alex s–stop.”
Her exclamation didn’t register immediately. I didn’t even realize that she stopped responding until I was jerked away from her.
“What the hell Alex?”
It took a moment for the haze to clear.
Daisy’s eyes locked with mine for a few seconds before she spun around and hurried away. It was long enough
for me to see the fear.
“Alex!”
My eyes locked with Elias. “Tell Erika we’re going to need that list a lot sooner.”
“She’s going into heat?” Valiant questioned, sounding way too excited.
I glared at him. “Pre–heat.”
Running a hand through my hair, I licked my lips and groaned. I could still taste her.
“I need to get out of here,” I muttered as I grabbed my keys from the bowl on the table. “Get the list from Erika and start making the preparations.”
“Where are you going?”
“To work,” I answered Elias. “I need to clear my mind.” And figure out what the hell we are doing.
“You look feral.”
I paused by the door. “If I stay, I’m going back in there to get another taste of her and it won’t be just a kiss. But by the look of it, I already scared her shitless.”
