31. VALIANT

“That’s the last of it.” Mom Bee stepped away from the table, a bright smile on her face as she studied her handiwork.

My eyes darted around the table to make sure that a place had been set for Daisy.

As expected Mom Sylvia wasn’t very happy about the omega living with us. It was expected after the videos on the news and the fact that Elias and Daisy were connected by their past wasn’t making things easy.

I was nervous because I wasn’t sure how Dad Logan would react.

Hopefully, this dinner would go smoothly without any more hiccups.

“Go call your brother.”

I pecked her cheek as I walked passed her and headed down the hall towards Alex’s bedroom.

Without knocking, I entered the bedroom. The words died down when my eyes locked on them.

Daisy was straddling Alex, her shirt halfway off as they made out.

Jealousy hit even when my body reacted to the scene I was seeing. Swallowing, I stepped into the room and softly closed the door. When I reached them, I leaned down and started kissing a trail up her neck.

Daisy moaned, making blood shoot straight down to my cock. Slipping a hand into her hair, I pulled her lips away from Alex’s and kissed her.

She tasted like him and strangely enough, it wasn’t repulsive.

“Val,” Alex rasped. “I’m sure there’s a reason why you’re here.”

I growled, hating the fact that he just reminded me of why we couldn’t take this any further.

Breaking the kiss, I lowered Daisy onto the bed and fixed her shirt.

“There is.” I cleared my throat, glancing between them. “They’re waiting for you.”

Alex sat up and captured Daisy’s lips in a short kiss. “We will continue where we left off later.”

I pursed my lips to stop myself from uttering a word. We both knew that these birthday parties could go on for hours and hours. By the time they leave, we’d be too tired to do anything other than fall into bed.

Alex held his hand out to Daisy and after hesitating for only a second, she slipped her hand into his.

Her hair was a mess, her face flushed with colour and her lips swollen.

“Did you take care of it?” Alex asked softly when we walked out of the room.

I nodded, not wanting to talk about it in front of Daisy.

As per the rules of Alex’s casino, if you borrow money and you make a big win, you’re expected to pay the money back immediately. If you lose, you have a month to pay the money back.

We have dealt with our fair share of addicts and assholes, but none of them beat the bastard John. Not only had he loaned money, he refused to pay it back when he made a win and then he dared to try and kill him.

Whenever Alex visited his casino we made arrangements for extra security.

But Alex was just planning on popping in so we didn’t arrange extra security.

It was our own mistake but we had learned our lesson.

“Oh my!” Mom Bee exclaimed the moment she spotted Alex. “What the hell happened to you.”

Daisy took a step back, almost hiding behind his back. Her eyes darted nervously to her left and I instantly realized why she suddenly wanted to hide.

I stepped forward, pressing a hand to the small of her back to guide her forward.

“Petal, this is Dad Logan and Dad Benjamin, or Ben as we call him.”

Dad Logan held out his hand. Daisy shook it and instantly pulled her hand back again.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Dad Ben said, giving her a smile. “I wish I could say that we’ve heard so much about you, but I’m afraid our sons didn’t mention you at all.”

“But you’ve seen me on TV.”

They shared a glance.

“I don’t pay much attention to the media,” Dad Logan muttered. “They make up lies to sell stories. I would much rather get to know you personally.”

Daisy’s fingers brushed my thigh and then clutched my pants. “I–I would like that.”

“Great.” Dad Ben clapped his hands. “Now that all the introductions are out of the way, can we eat? I’m starving.”

“Of course you are,” Mom Sylvia muttered.

I chuckled.

After they were done wishing Alex a happy birthday, we all moved to sit around the table. Alex was seated at the head of the table, Elias to his left, and Mom Bee to his right. I steered Daisy to the seat next to Elias and took a

seat next to her.

With Dad Logan on the other end of the table, we waited.

Alex raised his glass and looked around the table. “I’ve said it before and I am going to say it again. I’m too old for birthday parties. But I’d like to thank all of you for making today special.”

“Last year’s speech was better,” I told him.

He rolled his eyes. “Last year I wasn’t high on painkillers.”

“Thirty–two isn’t that old,” Mom Sylvia said before I could comment. “Don’t you say, Daisy? How old are you?”

“Mom!” Elias growled.

She blinked at him and then turned her focus back on Daisy. “I’m just trying to get to know the omega my sons are obviously fucking.”

“Sylvia,” Dad Logan growled. “Who they sleep with is none of our business.”

“It is if she’s-”

“Enough!” Elias interrupted her. “I love you but I will not sit here and let you disrespect Daisy like this. If you want to get to know her you do it respectfully.”

“I don’t take kindly to you calling her a whore,” Alex muttered.

“Neither do I.” I glared at Mom. “You have no right to judge her based on the shit you heard on TV or from your friends. You never judged us for our past, so why are you doing it to her?”

Mom Bee leaned forward. “We just don’t want you to get hurt.

“We’re old enough to learn from our own mistakes, Mother,” Alex said. “I know for a fact that Daisy is not a mistake waiting to happen.”

I reached for Daisy’s hand and gave it a squeeze.

“In fact, I’m certain that she belongs right here with us as our bonded omega.
