Where the fuck is she?

His loud exclamation was followed by the sound of flesh hitting flesh. I bit down on my tongue to stop the groan of pain from escaping. A few punches was nothing compared to the pain I had gone through when I was injured in the explosion.

Gripping my chin, he tilted my head back.

I watched him through swollen eyes and when he got close enough, I spit in his face.

Snarling, he punched me in the stomach, making me swing back and forth. The chains dug into my skin, making fresh blood trail down my arms.

I was glad they grabbed me and not Alex or Val. I had been trained to endure hours of torture. They were tough but Alex was already injured and they would have used that to get their answers.

Last chance,John growled. Where is Daisy?

I gave him a bloody smile. Fuck you.

Nothing happened.

Maybe you’ll start talking once your mother starts begging.

Bile rose in my throat but I swallowed it down. He was just joking. He had to be fucking joking.

Nobody knew where they lived, where they worked.

You should have just fucking taken Isabella! Now everything is ruined because of you.

We weren’t to blame. It was his own doing. He shouldn’t have made promises he couldn’t keep. They were going to find me. It was only a matter of time until they came for me and then John was going to fucking pay.

I fucking told you to grab the lawyer,John yelled at someone. It would have been easy to fucking break him.

I haven’t seen the other two at all since the omega disappeared. You told me to grab any of them so I grabbed him, someone muttered. I did exactly what you told me to.

Fucking idiot.

My eyes fluttered open as far as they could when I felt his stare on me.

I ached for some water and food.

They managed to grab me when I was out getting something to eat for us. We had been working at Val’s office. There was enough computers there for all of us to search for any talk of Daisy and Derek on the dark web. I had volunteered to make a food run. I was almost back to the office when the bastards jumped me. Got knocked out and woke up swinging from the ceiling.

She’s ours,I croaked. You’ll never find her.

Something in his hand caught the light as he stormed over to me.

1/4

Daisy’s not yours!

A gasp fell from my lips as searing pain shot up my leg.

The bastard just fucking stabbed me!

I should be thankful that he hadn’t stabbed me somewhere deadly. As long as he hadn’t hit an artery.

Another pained groan fell from my lips when he jerked the knife out of my thigh. A fist to the check made my face jerk to the side. Swinging back and forth, I spit blood on the floor and prayed to god that they find me soon.

My body was throbbing in pain.

I winced when I felt the dried blood tugging on my skin. Both eyes were swollen shut. I couldn’t see a fucking thing and everything was deadly silent.

Pressing the tips of my toes to the floor, I stood as much as I could to pull some weight of my arms. The chains. squeaked, making me freeze. I waited for the punches to start again.

But nothing happened.

Where were they? Did they leave me to bleed to death?

Just as soon as the thought flashed through my mind, a loud bang made my body jerk in fright. The action was followed by curses and what sounded like gun fire.

They found me.

There was no way for me to get loose on my own so all I could do was wait. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait long.

Familiar voices could be heard getting closer. My heartbeat increased as I waited.

Fuck! I found him,Jordan growled close by. Get the car ready, he needs to go to the hospital.

He muttered something else under his breath.

Did you find her?I questioned, ignoring the pain that flashed through every inch of me.

There was no answer. I tensed when I sensed him moving closer. Fingers brushed the chains locked around my wrist for a second before they disappeared. There was the rumble of a low voice.

We’re going to cut the chains,Jordan muttered. Aiden’s going to steady you.

Did you find her?I repeated the question.

Again they ignored me. It meant that they hadn’t found her. That was the only reason why they hadn’t answered my question. Maybe something happened to her. Maybe they found her, but it was already too late.

I groaned as an arm wrapped around my waist. A moment later the chains slipped from my wrists and my arms dropped. The pain increased as the blood flow returned.

Daisy?

2/4

She’s fine.

I knew in these kind of situations that you said what the other person wanted to hear to get them to work with you. They could be lying. For all I knew, they found her and Derek dead in a ditch somewhere.

Alive?I croaked.

Alive and well,Aiden said. Alex is with her.

Relief flooded me. They found her. Alex was with her.

John?

Nobody answered, or maybe they did but I didn’t hear them over the roar that suddenly filled my ears. My stomach rolled. Nausea rising in my throat.

Daisy,I managed to whisper before darkness swallowed me.

***

There was no pain when I opened my eyes again.

I was floating on a pleasurable high from whatever pain medicine they had given me. It was a struggle to open my eyes, but I manged to open it slightly. My vision was blurry and no matter how much I blinked, it didn’t clear.

Do you want me to get the doctor?

Turning my head slightly, I searched and failed to find the source of the voice.

My lips parted. I felt the pull of skin, but no pain. After swallowing a few times, I manged to give him an answer.

Here.

Something brushed my lips.

Take slow sips.

The icy water felt great against my dry throat.

Doctor said you’re lucky. Bastard just missed your artery. You have no muscle or ligament damage, but you’re going to be immobile for a few weeks while you heal.

Daisy?

He sighed loudly. She’s with Alex. Derek took her to a safe house.

Why?I asked him. We had a plan.

It changed when John’s plan changed. The chair creaked when he took a seat again. Derek picked up some chatter so he did the only thing he could do. He got to Daisy before John could. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time for him to tell us.

What happened?I questioned.

Val remained silent for a few minutes. He didn’t know about her suppressants.

3/4

My heartbeat increased. Her heat?

It started.

Did he?I trailed off, unable to voice the question.

No. He said he took her to an alpha that was staying close by.Val cleared his throat. The alpha used to be a service alpha. He had a few things on hand to help her. I don’t know all the details. Alex said he will call.

Has he?

No, I tried calling him when we found you, but haven’t gotten a hold of him.

Alex wasn’t one not to answer his phone. He knew how worried we’d be. Unless whatever the alpha gave Daisy wasn’t working. Maybe her heat hit fully and he was too busy taking care of her to answer his phone.

Is John dead?I asked him.

Yes,Val growled. Saw Aiden put a bullet through his head.

Good.

With the bastard out of the way, we could focus our attention on Daisy. She was already in heat so it was a bit too late to do the whole courting thing, but we could make her see that we were the perfect pack for her.

Try calling him again,I ordered Val.
