Watching Leonardo leave so firmly, I struggled to move, wanting to stop him. A sharp pain shot through my wrist, and tears immediately streamed down my face.
“Victoria…” My mother sat beside me, saying, “You should give up. Leonardo’s done with you.”
My uncle, who always doted on me, saw my pitiful state and said angrily, “He’s not worth it! Look how he is with Natalie. Men change their hearts this fast. Don’t be foolish anymore!”
“No. Leonardo is different. I know he’s different, I said.
The pain made it hard to breathe, but I forced the words out.
Only I knew that Leonardo wasn’t cold or heartless.
In fact, he was the gentlest man I had ever know.
Natalie’s POV:
On the ride back, Leonardo was unusually quiet. His strong arm held me tightly against his side, as if I might disappear. His deep eyes stared out at the city lights, silent. I could feel the tension in his muscles. He exuded a heavy, quiet tension.
I opened my mouth to say something, but stopped. Victoria had mentioned he’d gotten hurt around the time they were together. I understood. Sometimes, the most ruthless front hides the deepest wounds. I trusted Leonardo. He didn’t need to explain, and I didn’t care what others said. I just wanted him to feel better.
Back at our apartment, my phone rang. It was my assistant. The werewolf who attacked me had been interrogated.
It turned out his company had been driven to bankruptcy by a negative review from Alexander, the father I had just learned about and was already gone. His mate had worked herself to death trying to save the company. He blamed Alexander for everything. After finding out I was Alexander’s biological daughter, he had been waiting for a chance to get
revenge.
“Scum like that is just a plague on werewolf society.” Leonardo’s voice was low, but it carried a chill that froze the air. He contacted Aaron directly, instructing him in a flat tone to deal with him “thoroughly”.
Leonardo’s words were always measured, but the resolve and ruthlessness flashing in his eyes said it all. Even I was sometimes taken aback by this sudden, lethal aura of a powerful Alpha.

Chapter 173 Feel Suffocated
“Leonardo.” I said, thinking it over, “do you think someone egged that werewolf on?”
He immediately understood my implication. “Mrs. Penelope Scott?”

“Yes.” I nodded. It was just a guess, but Penelope hostility toward me was obvious. Besides, how could that werewolf, even if his business was good, get into the Scott family dinner? How could he know my schedule so precisely? The answer was almost self-evident. Leonardo’s face became gloomy.
I said heavily, “But I have no proof. If they dared to do this, they wouldn’t leave evidence. It seems Penelope and Samuel want to play dirty.”
The thought irritated me. I’d never backed down from a fight, but Penelope had many tricks. I just didn’t want to drag down the people around me.
“Whoever it is, targeting you is a death wish.” Leonardo’s gaze was profound. He thought for a moment, then added, “Let me handle the Moon Shadowed Pack people. Don’t carry this alone.”
I looked at him. He said it gently, but I knew if Leonardo stepped in for me, he wouldn’t hold back. The feeling of being so firmly protected warmed my heart completely.
“Okay, but…” My expression softened. “This is my fight. They’re coming for me, so I should be the one to settle it. And your father was right. The Sanchez family shouldn’t harm business ties over personal matters. Silver-Maned Pack shouldn’t get dragged into the Moon- Shadowed Pack’s internal strife for me. Penelope and Samuel must have skeletons in their closet. Can I borrow your intelligence network?”||
Hearing this, Leonardo understood I had a plan But I could feel his instinct preferred a direct approach. To protect someone absolutely he leaned towards extreme measures.
But I was his mate. He respected me and didn’t want anyone in the pack criticizing me because of him. Even though he personally didnt fear Ryan, he didn’t want me facing blame on his account.
“Alright. Whatever you say,” he conceded, but his tone brooked no argument. “But your security measures are being tightened starting now.” His hand lifted gently, tilting my chin up, forcing me to meet his gaze. His voice dropped, becoming low and suggestive. “Understand?”
