Chapter 166 Restless Night

Finished

After leaving Adele’s place, Quinn took photos of her sketches and sent them over. After a moment of hesitation, she selected two and sent them to Julian as well.

Quinn sent a message. Julian, would you be okay with this style?

The second she sent it, she remembered he was probably in a meeting.

He wouldn’t reply anytime soon. Her phone buzzed almost immediately.

Julian replied. Yeah, I like it.”

Since he had no objections, Quinn moved on to refining the finer details.

Still, she couldn’t help wondering if he was actually in a meeting or just checking his phone on the side.

She assumed it was the latter.

What she didn’t know was that Julian was already in bed.

It was only nine, unusually early for him.

After getting home, he had taken a shower.

And under the steady strearn of hot water, with Quinn on his mind, the heat in his body had spiraled out of control.

He had given in to something he didn’t want to admit, something that left him feeling like he had crossed a line, even if she would never know.

When it was over, there was relief, but no satisfaction. Instead, there was frustration.

He didn’t want to be that kind of man. But his body didn’t seem to care.

If she finishes the outfit, will that be it between us?

How am I even supposed to get closer to herhow do I make her see me that way?

For the first time in his life, he lay in bed this early, stuck in a loop of restless thoughts.

That was when Quinn’s message came in.

It didn’t matter what she designed.

He would like it.

Just knowing she came up with it, that she would make it herself, and that one day he would wear something created by her….

That alone made him look forward to it.

After he replied, Quinn only sent back a short message.

Quinn replied, Got it.

And then nothing.

Julian stared at his phone, wanting to say more, but his mind came up empty.

So he called Zeke.

Zeke was in the middle of dinner with clients. Seeing Julian’s name, he raised a hand for quiet before answering. Julian?

I remember you said you’ve got experience with relationships,Julian said. I need some advice.”

Zeke couldn’t help laughing as he stepped out into the hallway. Alright, this I’ve gotta hear. What’s going on?

Julian asked, If she’s not trying to see me, how do I come up with a reason to meet her?

Zeke genuinely found this fascinating.

The guy who had everything handed to him, who could have anyone he wanted, was completely lost when it came to one person.

And somehow, that made him seem almostnormal.

I told you you’d need me,Zeke said, smiling. Lucy mentioned Quinn’s designing clothes for you, right? Use that. Ask to meet, say you want to go over the details.

he defa

That works,Julian said without hesitation. Thanks.

And he hung up immediately.

Zeke stared at his phone, shaking his head with a laugh. Wow, used me and hung up. That was fast.”

Still, helping Julian like this was something he could definitely bring up later.

Then something occurred to him, and he called again.

Julian picked up. What is it?

I need to check something with you.

Go ahead.

That Clara situation,Zeke said. The whole arranged marriage thing. What’s your plan? Her dad aren’t exactly easy to deal with.

The city at night was alive, glowing with color and noise.

Quinn sat by the window, watching the neon lights flicker below. They were so bright they drowned our the stars completely.

She remembered when she was younger, walking near Adele’s street, she could still look up and see a sky full of stars.

Now, they were gone.

The day her SAT results came out, she had been genuinely happy. Until Victor and Elaine shut that down, criticizing her choices for college applications.

She had cried until her eyes were swollen, with nowhere to go. So she wandered back to that old street.

Back then, the streetlights were dim, and the neighborhood felt quieter, less polished. It had just rained.

She wasn’t paying attention, slipped on the wet pavement, and fell hard into a puddle.

She was already on edge emotionally. That fall broke whatever fragile control she had left.

She burst into tears.

Those were the years when Rosalie had the most control over her life.

Her friends had been pushed away, her family constantly critical.

She lived carefully, anxiously, never at ease.

If she couldn’t even choose what she wanted to study, then what future did she really have?

Her SAT scores were strong enough that she could have gone to college on scholarships alone.

But back then, she didn’t understand.

Why did the people she treated like family never consider how she felt?

She had been naive, focused only on school, unaware of everything happening around her.

All she felt was hurt, and a deep uncertainty about what came next.

And that night, as she sat there crying, someone stopped beside her.

A young man reached out, helped her up, and stayed with her, quietly comforting her.
