Chapter 299 Shameless Persistence
“You’re just egging Lucy on,” Quinn said, helpless. “As for whether we’re a match… if anything, I’m the one who isn’t good enough for him.”
“Are you being serious right now?” Jess said. “You’re amazing. There’s no way you’re not good enough for him. As your friend, I won’t let you talk like that.”
Quinn laughed at his seriousness.
“Fine, I’ll stop. Are you working through the holiday?”
Jess answered right away, “I’m off starting today. I don’t go back until the seventh day.”
“We should get together sometime soon.”
“Sure. Let’s invite Lucy too.”
Quinn just remembered Jess hadn’t heard about Lucy’s injury.
“Lucy’s going back home for the holiday. Her family’s keeping her busy, so she might not be free. Let’s just hang out by ourselves for now.”
Jess kn
about Lucy’s background and nodded. “Alright.”
They planned to meet before Christmas Eve.
Back then, Quinn had no idea Julian would be in town.
Lucy definitely had to go home for the holiday, and there was no hiding her injury anymore.
She probably wouldn’t be able to come back until she fully recovered.
Once Quinn and Jess sat down and were about to order, the private room door suddenly swung open.
“Chase?” Quinn stared at him in disbelief. “What are you doing here?”
Chase had someone tail Jess, and had finally waited for him to meet up with Quinn.
As soon as he got the news, he rushed over.
“Quinn, I need to talk to you.”
Quinn was completely fed up with him. “Can you just leave me alone? We’re divorced. Nothing is ever going to happen between us again.”
“Quinn, please, just give me one more chance,” Chase begged. “I know I messed up badly, but I didn’t realize I loved you back then…”
Quinn said, “Because you didn’t love me, does that mean you could just hand me over to another man? This isn’t about love, Chase. It’s about character, dignity, and basic decency. You’ve disappointed me beyond repair, and I could never care for someone like you.”

Chapter 299 Shameless Persistence
“But you used to like me!”
“That was before I knew how shameless you are.”
Chase stared at her, stunned. “You… you insulted me.”
Jess finally stepped in. “Insulting you is the least I could do. I’d hit you. You hurt her that badly, and you still have the nerve to beg for forgiveness? What if I stabbed you and then asked you to forgive me? Would you do it?”
“This is between me and Quinn. It’s none of your business.”
Quinn snapped, “Keep this up, and I’m calling the police.”
Chase was dead set on not leaving. “I’m just trying to win you over. I’m not threatening or hurting you. The police can’t do anything.”
Jess muttered, “Pathetic.”
“Shut up!” Chase shouted at him. “This has nothing to do with you!”
Jess smiled faintly. “You know, there’s someone else pursuing Quinn too.”
Quinn quickly cut in. “Jess!”
Jess gave her a reassuring look and turned back to Chase. “He’s taller, better–looking, and way wealthier than you. Do you really think Quinn is so blind or foolish that she’d pick you over him?”
Chase said, “Quit lying. There’s no one like that in her life. You’re making it up.”
“There is, and I can prove it,” Jess said. “And if I told you who he is, you’d be terrified.”
That made Chase hesitate, doubt flickering across his face.
