Chapter 375 Awkward Plane Ride

“I will.” Julian said. “Health is everything. If I ruin my body, how am I supposed to take care of you?”

Quinn listened to him speak so seriously, her heart fluttering and her cheeks burning.

“You should get some rest,” she said.

“Alright. But remember-don’t sleep next to her.”

“I got it!”

As soon as she hung up, she turned to Lucy. “I’ve decided. I’m going to see him.”

“Go for it!” Lucy cheered. “Book the flight right now!”

Quirn smiled. “Don’t tell him, okay? I want it to be a surprise.”

“Deal.” Lucy giggled. “I can’t wait to see his face when show

you

up.”

“It’s not that big of a deal,” Quinn said, checking her phone. “There’s a flight early tomorrow morning.”

“I’ll drive you to the airport!”

“No need, it’s way too early,” Quinn said, buying the ticket. “I can just take a taxi.”

“If Julian finds out I let

you go alone, he’ll yell at me. C’mon, let’s get some sleep. I’m taking you tomorrow.”

Lucy pulled open her closet. “Just grab some of my clothes. Plenty are still new-you don’t have to go back home to pack.”

They quickly threw together a small suitcase. Quinn already had her passport with her, so she could head straight to the airport the next day.

They left for the airport at dawn. Once they arrived, Quinn told Lucy to head back and went through security alone.

“Quinn?”

Quinn turned around, surprised. “Shawn?”

Shawn walked over quickly. “Where are you off to?”

After talking for a moment, they realized they were heading to the exact same place.

They were even on the same flight.

“What a coincidence,” Quinn said.

“It really is,” Shawn said, looking at her. “At least the trip won’t be boring.”

Quinn had never been very outgoing. Even when they’d run into each other on campus and had lunch together, Lucy had done most of the talking.

Quinn had only spoken a few words.

Now they were alone, and Shawn was barely a stranger to her.

She didn’t like the idea of sitting next to someone who wanted to chat during such a long flight.

She smiled faintly. “Our seats aren’t next to each other, though.”

To her surprise, Shawn said, “I can ask someone to switch. I’m sure they won’t mind.”

Quinn didn’t know what to say.

She decided that once she got on the plane, she’d just say she wasn’t feeling well and sleep the whole time.

If she was asleep, he couldn’t talk to her.

Onge they boarded, Shawn managed to switch seats with the person next to Quinn.

What’s more, he took the aisle seat, meaning Quinn would have to step past him to get to the bathroom.

Quinn would have much rather sat next to a complete stranger.

Luckily, she fell asleep as soon as she sat down, avoiding any conversation with him.

She truly had no idea what to say to him, and the whole thing felt awkward.

She wasn’t like Lucy, who could talk to anyone easily.

Most of the time, she preferred being alone.

But when she woke up, the flight was only a third of the way over.

“You’re awake,” Shawn said. “Are you hungry?”

They’d gotten up at around four in the morning for the early flight, and neither of them had much of an appetite.

They’d only grabbed breakfast at the airport.

Quinn shook her head. “No, thank you.”

Shawn could tell Quinn really didn’t want to talk to him.

But he couldn’t help himself. Running into her like this might be his last chance to see her.

If he didn’t take it, he’d only regret it later.

He didn’t want to annoy her, so he started with small talk about the weather.

He asked if she knew what the climate would be like at their destination.

Quinn had decided to go see Julian on a whim and hadn’t checked the weather carefully.

But she’d asked Julian, and knew it was similar to back home-around fifty or sixty degrees Fahrenheit.

“It can get a little chilly in the morning and evening,” Shawn said. “I’ve been there a few times. You’ll want a

warmer coat.”

Quinn had packed a coat, and figured she’d take a taxi straight to the hotel once she landed, so she wouldn’t get cold.

Before boarding, she’d texted Julian saying she had a client meeting and would be busy all day.

She wanted to surprise him by showing up out of nowhere.

She was wearing pants, but had a nice dress in her bag, planning to change in a restroom before she arrived.

But with Shawn right next to her, she couldn’t exactly change now.

She decided she’d use the airport bathroom after landing.

After a while, Shawn asked again, “I never asked-are you visiting family, or…?”

Quinn said, “I’m going to see my boyfriend.”

Shawn looked surprised. “Long-distance relationship?”

Long-distance and international?

Most relationships like that didn’t end well.
