“Why aren’t you wearing shoes?”

He carried her back into the bedroom.

Quinn buried her face in his neck. “I missed you.”

Julian chuckled softly. “I’m right here, aren’t I?”

He hated to let her go, so he sat down on the bed with her still in his lap.

He loved how clingy and affectionate she was with him.

Julian kissed her gently, unable to hold back.

She smelled wonderful-not just the body wash, but her own soft, sweet scent. He loved it more than anything.

Quinn straddled his lap, held his face in her hands, and stopped his kisses.

Quinn couldn’t hold back any longer. “Did you run into anyone you know?”

“No,” Julian said. “Just business partners. No unexpected old friends.”

She almost asked the question she’d been dying to ask, but she held her tongue.

Julian studied her. “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”

Her phone chimed. Julian reached over and grabbed it for her.

Quinn kept her arms wrapped around his neck.

Julian unlocked it for her and asked, “Message from Zoe. It’s a voice note. Want me to play it?”

Quinn nodded.

The next second, Zoe’s loud voice filled the room.

“Quinn! Where did that annoying girl take your husband? He was gone in a blink!”

Quinn panicked and tried to grab the phone.

Julian frowned and held it out of her reach. “What’s this about?”

Quinn wanted to disappear into the floor.

Julian raised his eyebrows. “Well?”

Quinn had no choice but to admit, “Zoe was at the dinner too. She saw you… talking to a girl.”

She pointed at the phone. “Look for yourself.”

Julian read through her chat with Zoe.
