Ditched the Cheater, Pregnant by Mr. Righ novel Chapter 44

Chapter 44 The Price of Thanks

She truly was grateful to him.

But when she thought about everything Julian had done, something about it still made her feel awkward.

If giving him a gift meant they no longer owed each other anything, Quinn was more than willing to do it.

As for what she called him, it was just a name. Saying it wouldn’t cost her anything.

She spoke quickly, “Seven.”

Lucy laughed. “So you two already had that figured out. I call him Seven sometimes too. Quinn copying me works perfectly.”

Now the contact had been added, the thank–you gift settled, and the guard Quinn had been carrying seemed to finally come down.

Julian stood up, picked up the coat beside him, and said, “You two enjoy dinner. I’ve got something to take care of.”

He put on his coat and walked out.

His tall figure was straight and steady. Quinn watched him leave before pulling her gaze away.

If he ever wore one of my designs, it would probably suit him really well…

With that build, he would make the perfect model.

“Quinn?”

Lucy’s voice snapped her back to reality.

Quinn felt her face heat up. “What’s wrong?”

Lucy stared at her with concern. “Be honest with me. Seven didn’t bully you, right? If he did, I swear I’ll go after him.”

“No, of course not.” Quinn shook her head quickly. “Mr. Ster… Seven is a very decent person. He would never bully a woman.”

Veronica spoke up. “Quinn, after today’s dinner, can we put everything from before behind us? From now on, if you ever need help, you can come to me. And I hope you’ll trust me the same way you trust Lucy.”

Quinn looked embarrassed. “Veronica, I never meant to doubt you. I was just angry at the time, and since you’re family with them, I figured you had to stay neutral.”

“I understand.” Veronica lifted her cup. “Come on. Let’s just put the past behind us. We’re friends now.”

After dinner, Lucy dragged Quinn out shopping.

While they were looking at throw pillows, a sudden image flashed through Quinn’s mind.

Seeing her stare blankly, Lucy asked, “What’s wrong? You don’t like this one?”

In her hands was a fluffy white lamb pillow, square–shaped with two tiny horns on top and little dangling legs underneath,

It is adorable.

Suddenly Quinn remembered something.

The last time Julian had come to Lucy’s place, she had thrown something at him.

it had been a lamb pillow. Afterward Lucy said the pillow had gone missing.

Could it be… But that was impossible.

Someone like Julian wouldn’t quietly take a random pillow from Lucy’s apartment.

Shaking off the strange thought, Quinn smiled. “It’s cute. Let’s get this one.

After they returned home, Lucy still had work to finish. Quinn lay across the coffee table, already thinking about designing Julian’s outfit.

Her phone rang.

Chase frowned when he saw her. “You haven’t been back in days. What happened? Forget the passcode? Your fingerprint suddenly stop working?”

Quinn said calmly, “This place belongs to you. After the divorce, it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to walk in like I still live here.”

Chase frowned even deeper and stepped aside. “Just come in.”

Once inside, Quinn got straight to the point.

“Have you made up your mind about the divorce? When are we going to file the paperwork?”

Chase grabbed a drink from the fridge and set it in front of her.

“Why the rush?” he said. “We’ve been married three years. You’re really that eager to get rid of me?”

As he spoke, he moved to sit beside her.

Quinr immediately stood up and walked to the other side of the couch. Chase froze.

He stared at her in disbelief. “What’s that supposed to mean? Why are you avoiding me?”

Quinn suppressed the wave of disgust rising in her stomach. Her expression remained cold.

“We’re getting divorced. We should keep some distance.”

Chase let out a mocking laugh.

“On” So now you’re playing shy?” he said. “What happened to when you were the one trying to seduce me?”
