Elaine answered without hesitation, “Of course we care about her. But this is a family matter. If her husband did something wrong, she should come to us. Why does she have to make a scene at the police station?”

Just then, Chase walked out of the interrogation room.

He looked aggrieved as he spoke. “Mom, Dad, you’re here. Good, you can help me clear this up. She’s accusing me of domestic violence. Do I look like the kind of guy who would do something like that?”

Elaine said, “Don’t worry, we’ll talk some sense into her. Chase, you’ve really been put through the wringer.”

Watching the scene unfold, the female officer frowned. “What is going on with your family? Your daughter is the one filing the complaint, yet you’re acting like none of this concerns her?”

Quinn said to her quietly, “Thank you, officer. You don’t need to worry about them. I’ve already made my decision, and I’m not changing it.”

Standing nearby, Chase hurried to defend himself. “That only happened because you fought back. You’re my wife. If I want to sleep with my own wife, is that suddenly illegal?”

Quinn’s voice turned cold. “You need to get something straight. I’m asking for a divorce. Even if I weren’t, if I say no and you force me anyway, that’s rape.”

Chase grew anxious. “If you keep slandering me like this, I’ll tell everyone about you and Maddox.”

Quinn found that laughable. “What, are you planning to tell everyone the disgusting thing you did?”

Chase said, “Forget what I did. Are you really going to stand there and say you’re not still in contact with Maddox? That’s cheating.”

“Cheating?” Quinn stared at him in disbelief.

She truly had not imagined someone could be this shameless.

Chase continued, convinced he had caught her red–handed. “What, you’re not going to admit it? Those two bodyguards earlier, weren’t they assigned to you by Maddox?”

Quinn frowned in confusion. “What bodyguards?”

Weren’t those two men just strangers who happened to step in and help?

“Stop pretending.” Chase said smugly, convinced he had finally found leverage against her. “The last time outside Lucy’s place, those same two guys kicked me out. And today it was them again. Are you seriously going to say Maddox didn’t send them?”

No. That can’t be right. I’ve never had anything to do with Maddox, so why would he assign bodyguards to me?Julian… Was it Julian? He definitely had the power to make something like that happen. But why? Why would he go out of his way to do something like that

When Quinn remained silent, Chase assumed he had hit the mark.

He immediately turned to Victor. “See, Dad? I was right. I didn’t even make a fuss about her cheating, yet she still wants to report me to the police.”

Several people nearby had begun watching.

Victor had spent his entire life caring about reputation, and he could not stand the feeling of being judged by strangers.

He waved his hand sharply. “All of you, go home. Right now.”

“If either of you uses violence against my client again, even if you’re her parents, you will face legal consequences.”

“I’m her mother!” Elaine said through clenched teeth, struggling to maintain a shred of dignity. “I’m disciplining my own child, and you’re lecturing me about the law?”

The female officer spoke up. “This is a workplace. Please keep your voices down. Make some room and don’t interfere with our
