Latonia leaned back against the soft cushion, letting out a sigh. “What am I supposed to do? It is what it is.”

Catheleen looked over, hesitant. “So, you and him… You’re not planning to get a divorce?”

“We’re in it for the business now,” Latonia replied. “Everything under his name, all the companies, the shares, the assets, they all belong to both of us. Getting divorced would be a huge mess.”

“But… If there’s no love left, what’s the point of staying married? And he cheated on you…”

Catheleen trailed off, watching Latonia’s face.

Latonia shrugged. “Catheleen, haven’t you figured it out yet? In families like ours, love doesn’t really come into the picture. It’s just about who’s suitable. We’re married by name, but I don’t keep tabs on him and he doesn’t care what I do. We just live our own lives.”

Catheleen blinked. “So… you mean you have someone, too?”

Latonia let out a laugh. “No, nothing like that. Mostly because I haven’t met any man who’s caught my eye… Unless you can find me someone with Lambert’s spine and competence.”

Catheleen perked up, waving her hands. “You’re into guys like Lambert? Sure, he’s good-looking, has an incredible body, and he’s definitely capable, but honestly, he scares me. If I’m going to date someone, he’d have to make me laugh and spoil me a little. Lambert? No way, not even in my dreams.”

Latonia smiled. “I stopped dreaming a long time ago. Anyway, let’s drop it. Just remember, you have to keep quiet about Lambert liking Cammie.”

Catheleen nodded. “I know, I know. Reality is just too harsh, honestly. I’ll stick to being a fan of celebrities.”

Latonia smirked. “Who knows if that’s any safer? Your favorite today might be exposed tomorrow.”

“Don’t jinx my idol!” Catheleen protested.

By the time Camilla woke up, Catheleen was excitedly showing Latonia photos of her current celebrity crush.

She beckoned Camilla over, making room. “Cammie, come look! Isn’t my idol ridiculously handsome?”

The new year was coming up, and all sorts of big events and holiday specials with celebrities were being announced. A few had dropped preview shots of their outfits, sending fans into a frenzy.

Camilla glanced at the screen. On Catheleen’s phone was a guy in a sparkling stage outfit, his features sharp, hair a silvery gray. Honestly, he was kind of stunning.

Catheleen jumped in before Camilla could reply. “Cammie’s perfect for this! She’s amazing at drawing. Back in school, the teachers all said she was gifted, especially in our design classes. They even used her projects in exhibitions.”

Camilla blushed. “It’s not all that. Clients like that usually want famous designers. No one’s going to look twice at my stuff.”

Latonia shrugged. “You never know. How about this—send me your past work later, and I’ll show it to him. If he likes your style, then the job’s yours. Honestly, if there’s money to be made, may as well stay in the family.”

Catheleen nodded, eyes bright. “Totally. Cammie, you can do this, for sure.”

Camilla nodded back. “Alright, I’ll send you my old designs tonight. I could use some extra cash, anyway.”

Truth was, this had been Latonia’s plan all along. Camilla was divorcing Daniel without wanting a cent from him, and her own family wasn’t about to step in and help out.

After the divorce, Camilla would need her own way to live.

“Just send them after dinner,” Latonia said, her voice gentle. “I want to get back to my client soon.”
