Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 131

The back seat was dim, and Lambert’s face was half-lit when he glanced over. The little light that did slip in only made his features stand out even more—an elegant nose, sharp jawline, every angle crisp and striking. His eyes were deep, catching bits of light, and when he glanced over at her, Camilla couldn’t figure out what he was thinking at all.

She quickly turned away. Realizing that felt rude, she rushed to say something. “Hello, Mr. White.”

Latonia started the car, laughing softly. “Why so formal? Didn’t I tell you to just call him Lambert, like Catheleen does?”

Camilla didn’t respond. The name “Lambert” just stuck in her throat now. She couldn’t say it.

Lambert spoke up, his voice calm and low. “Doesn’t matter what you call me. It’s just a name.”

Latonia smiled. “Cammie, you won’t believe the timing. I bumped into him on the road, his car broke down. I’m just giving him a ride. Hope you don’t mind.”

This was Latonia’s car, and Latonia was driving her to a client meeting. How could she mind? “Of course,” Camilla said quickly. “That’s fine.”

“Great, he’s hardly a stranger anyway,” Latonia said. “And he’s headed somewhere close to where we’re going.”

No one spoke after that. The inside of the car went quiet. But even with Lambert sitting in the back, Camilla felt like his presence filled every inch of space. Maybe she was just imagining things, but felt like his attention had weight—like she could feel it at the back of her neck. Still, she didn’t dare look back to check if he really was staring.

Latonia glanced at her, then looked in the rearview mirror and said, “Lambert, didn’t expect your fancy car to quit on you.”

Lambert wasn’t the type to chase after just anyone. If he really wanted a woman, he could have his pick. Why waste time on someone like her—a woman halfway out of a marriage?

Lately she found herself keeping all men at arm’s length, convinced anyone who got close must want something from her. She knew that wasn’t fair. At least Lambert… well, she didn’t think he was that kind of guy.

This was just a coincidence. Once she finished the suit, there’d be no reason for their lives to overlap. After that, their paths might never cross.

The thought let her breathe a bit easier.

Latonia suddenly piped up, “Cammie, do you ever look at antique jewelry for inspiration?”
