Lambert was honestly the most incredible guy Camilla had ever met. No competition. Forget his family background, forget his social standing—just look at him. He had it all. Tall, gorgeous, built just right, with this magnetic presence you felt the moment he walked in. He looked unreal in a way that didn’t feel fair.
Camilla had never seen anyone as good-looking as him. Sure, maybe some celebrities had more delicate features, but they just didn’t have that air of elegance and quiet strength that Lambert carried, like he was born for greatness. The guys with more ripped bodies never looked even half as good as he did. And honestly, Camilla thought Lambert’s muscles were perfect. She wasn’t into the whole big, bulky muscle guy thing. But Lambert’s chest? And her mind betrayed her with the memory of how solid he’d felt—enough to make her face heat with embarrassment.
Suddenly, Camilla snapped out of her thoughts, her face burning hot.
What on earth was she even thinking about?
“Cammie!”
Catheleen turned around in her seat, her big eyes wide. “Cammie, your face is so red! You okay? Is it too warm in here?”
Lambert had the heater going, filling up the car with a soft warmth.
Camilla felt completely mortified. She had no idea how those images sneaked into her head. Maybe it was because, right now, Lambert looked way too good—sexy, even—so different from his usual suit-and-tie seriousness. Today he just seemed polished, magnetic, impossible to ignore. He gave off this energy that was classy and seductive at the same time. You almost had to look away, but somehow you couldn’t. It was like he drew your eyes right to him and made your heart pick up speed.
Actually, the very first time Camilla saw Lambert she thought he was overflowing with that kind of masculine charm. Catheleen always gossiped about celebrities being “hot” or having “chemistry,” but after meeting Lambert, Camilla felt like nobody even came close to him. Maybe it was his height, maybe it was the way he carried himself, but he just made you think of all the words for strength and beauty without even trying.
Now, sitting here, Camilla couldn’t help but let those kinds of thoughts sneak back in, even though she’d rather not. It was weird. She hated the idea of guys getting close, hated anything intimate, and yet... she kept imagining how perfect Lambert’s body was under his shirt. Torture.
What made her feel even more awkward was that today, she’d ended up wearing a black turtleneck too. Catheleen’s sweater was cute, with a v-neck and sparkly details, but Camilla’s had no accessories, nothing fancy—almost exactly the same as Lambert’s. It was like they matched by accident.
“No, I’m... I’m fine,” she stuttered quickly.
Catheleen gave her this exaggerated wink and started making crazy faces, nodding at Camilla like she wanted her to say something.
Camilla had no idea what she wanted, so she just blinked and looked totally confused.
“Sit up.”
Instantly, Catheleen straightened in her seat, hands folded, putting on her best-behaved face.
But of course, she couldn’t keep her mouth shut. “Lambert, if you’re this strict all the time, you’re never gonna get a girlfriend, you know that?”
Lambert glanced over with a cool, unreadable look.
Catheleen thought he was ridiculously good-looking and had the kind of presence you only saw in movies, but he was just so cold. Whenever he looked at people, it felt like there was a wall between him and everyone else. No warmth, all distance.
She was a bit scared of him. Camilla was too. And it was so petty of him not to let her and Cammie sit together in the back.
Hmph. She couldn’t help but wonder, with the way he scared everyone, when was he ever going to land his dream girl?
