Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 182

There weren't many golden bachelors in their circle, and diamond-tier ones like Lambert were even rarer.

For families like theirs, marriages were often arranged alliances, and the pool of suitable partners was actually quite small. But it was obvious that Lambert was the kind of partner many women dreamed of marrying.

Among them, Jeanette Clark's family background was the most suitable match.

Before Lambert had even arrived, Jeanette had already been the subject of much teasing.

She had just returned from studying abroad, came from a prominent family, was beautiful, and highly educated. Looking around, the only young men in Cabinda who could match her were from the very top echelon.

Jeanette had greeted Catheleen earlier, but after a few words, she had excused herself. Even if she was interested in Lambert, she had her own pride and decorum. She wouldn't stoop to sucking up to Lambert's cousin.

Everyone sat down, and the seating arrangement itself was significant. There was an unspoken rule about who sat where based on their status and position.

Lambert was flanked by Catheleen and Faust. Next to Faust sat Jeanette.

Faust shot Lambert a meaningful look, but Lambert remained unmoved, instead looking at Catheleen. "Are you getting used to living alone?"

Catheleen launched into a litany of complaints. "Not at all! It's lonely and cold, and sometimes I get scared! But Cammie promised to stay with me on weekends. Right, Cammie?"

Camilla smiled. "That's right."

Catheleen then looked at Paulina. "You should come too, Paulina!"

Before Paulina could reply, Jeanette spoke up. "I'm afraid that might be a bit inconvenient."

Catheleen and Jeanette's relationship was limited to polite nods. She'd always found Jeanette incredibly pretentious and had disliked her since their school days.

"What's so inconvenient about it?" Catheleen retorted. "I wasn't inviting you."

Jeanette's lips curved into a soft smile. "Catheleen, when I hear you inviting him to your home, I realize there are some things you might not be aware of."

"Just spit it out..."

"Catheleen," Paulina interrupted suddenly. "I just remembered I have something to do. Can I leave first?"

Camilla was still in shock, but Catheleen had already processed it.

She patted Paulina's shoulder. "What does it matter if you're a man or a woman? You're my friend, and that's not going to change! Right, Cammie?"

Camilla snapped back to reality and quickly agreed. "Right."

Paulina... was a man.

Camilla's body tensed up, and the side of her closest to Paulina felt rigid. She couldn't control it; it was an involuntary, physical reflex.

Her phone suddenly rang. As if granted a pardon, Camilla quickly stood up. "I need to take this call."

Once outside the suite, she took a deep breath before looking at her phone.

It was Lean.

She answered, her lips moving for a moment before she managed to say, "Dad."
