"I told you, it's not," Camilla insisted stubbornly. "Please hand it over."
"And what if it is?" Lambert pulled the sketchbook closer to his chest. "Care to make a bet?"
"No!"
Panic surged through her, and she lunged forward to grab the book.
Lambert smoothly raised his arm high above his head, effortlessly dodging her grasp.
Desperate to retrieve her sketches, Camilla completely forgot about personal space. She stood on her tiptoes, swiping at the air, and when she realized she couldn't reach it, she leaned forward to grab his arm.
Her entire focus was consumed by the sketchbook. She didn't even realize that, in her frantic state, she was closing the distance between them.
In the past, she would have done anything to stay far away from him.
But the drawing on that page demanded all her attention.
*He absolutely! Cannot! See it!*
She was entirely oblivious to the fact that she had practically thrown herself into his space.
He was so much taller, and with his arm raised, she couldn't reach it no matter how much she stretched.
She hopped a couple of times, her hands swiping blindly at the air.
"Lam... Lambert!"
She cried out his name in sheer frustration.
It wasn't the first time she had used his first name.
But it was the first time she had done it completely sober.
Lambert's Adam's apple bobbed heavily.
She was brushing against his chest...
If this contact continued, Lambert knew he was going to embarrass himself physically.
And no suit jacket would be thick enough to hide it.
He placed his free hand on her shoulder and patted it gently. "Cammie, stand still."
His deep voice rumbled right next to her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.
Camilla startled violently.
He really was right next to her ear.
When did they get this close?
