Catheleen didn't catch on the first time.

She just gave him a bewildered look, about to ask out loud why he kicked her.

Still hungry but utterly terrified to cross him, she abruptly set down her fork.

"Oh! Cammie, I just remembered I have a package I need to grab from the pickup station. You guys keep eating, I'll be right back!"

Camilla didn't suspect a thing, but she placed her silverware down as well. "A package? I'll come with you."

"No, no, you stay and eat!" Catheleen practically yelled. "I just remembered the place is about to close, so I have to run! I'll be back in a flash, enjoy the food!"

She bolted to the entryway, shoved her feet into her shoes, and flew out the front door.

"Eat," Lambert said calmly.

He served her a small bowl of hot soup and slid it across the table.

"Thank you."

Camilla's voice was barely a whisper. She stared down at her bowl, her appetite completely gone despite picking up her silverware.

"Since Catheleen isn't here," Lambert began, his tone shifting to business. "Let's talk about your court date."

Honestly, just being alone with Lambert made her skin prickle with unease.

Hearing his words, she finally looked up at him. "My court date?"

"Regarding your parents testifying against you," Lambert explained. "I've been thinking about it. If you agree, I can have Owen Gates fly back to testify on your behalf."

If Owen Gates testified, he could definitively prove that Daniel White had intended to hand his wife over to another man that night on the yacht, and had actively tried to make it happen.

With that kind of testimony, securing the divorce would be effortless.

But it meant relying on Lambert again.

Only Lambert had the power to summon the youngest son of The Gates Family. Anyone else wouldn't stand a chance.

Her debt to him would only grow deeper.
