Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 22

There was talk that Daniel’s family business could explode in the future, maybe even grow ten times bigger. But right now, none of that mattered. Daniel said quietly, “I never loved her, Owen. I didn’t want to hold her back, so I never touched her. Meeting you is honestly a stroke of luck for her. I can only tell you this much—I haven’t slept with her, but I really don’t know if she’s been with anyone else. If not, well… this could be her first time.”

Owen’s mind went blank. He wasn’t listening to explanations or excuses anymore. Love, heartbreak, who cared. One thing echoed in his mind. Camilla’s first time.

He hadn’t been with a woman like that in years, and honestly, the thought made his heart pound. Camilla had already blown him away just by walking into the room, but now, knowing this? It set every nerve in him alight.

He turned to Daniel with new urgency. “Yeah, yeah, I got it. You can go now!”

Daniel seemed flustered and threw in a final warning on his way out. “She’s got a temper, Owen. Be patient with her, will you?” But Owen was already pushing him toward the door, not bothering to hide his impatience.

Daniel nearly lost his balance as he left the room, barely managing to stay on his feet. Out in the hallway, he looked up to see Faust standing there, eyes narrowed in surprise.

“Daniel?”

Daniel quickly straightened his clothes and forced a friendly grin. “Hey, Faust.”

Faust glanced behind Daniel, his eyebrows raised. “What are you doing here? Isn’t this Owen’s room?”

“Yeah. I just needed a quick word with Owen. We’re done. I was just leaving.”

Faust just waved him off, too busy to care, and Daniel wasted no time making his escape.

Faust slipped into the room next door, looking unimpressed. He directed his remarks to Lambert, who was sitting by the window with a laptop open on the table. “What’s the deal with you inviting that distant cousin of yours, Daniel, to a party like this?” he asked. “You know everyone here’s a big deal. Daniel doesn’t even fit in.”

Lambert shut his laptop with an audible click and met Faust’s gaze. “What’s wrong now?”

Faust sighed, shaking his head. “Remember when I told you Daniel’s wife was beautiful? Turns out she’s a mess. Barely halfway into the party and she’s already drunk off her feet. I just stepped out to make a call and saw Daniel sneaking out of Owen’s room. Honestly, those two are hopeless. No class at all.”

Faust stood up straight. “Fine, I’ll go.”

Lambert shooed him off, barely glancing up, and Faust flashed a smile as he left. Lambert didn’t even last a minute before he stood up and headed to the door.

As soon as Lambert opened it, Faust was there, leaning against the wall with a sly grin.

“Knew it,” Faust said, arching an eyebrow. “I knew something was up with you.”

Lambert shot him an icy look, his expression unreadable, then strode past him without a word. Faust trailed behind, refusing to be left out. “Where are you headed? Don’t tell me you’re going without me!”

Back in Owen’s private suite, Owen stood by the bed, eyeing the woman lying there—a gorgeous mess of a girl, drunk and completely at his mercy. And for a moment, all he could think about was how the night might unfold.
