For Owen, sleeping with someone was just something adults did if they both wanted it. Whether she was married, had a boyfriend, or if it meant he'd be the other man, none of that mattered to him. Even now, even though Camilla wasn't here by choice, he wasn't worried at all.
His family had money and connections. If anything happened, even if it was actually illegal, let alone just crossing some moral line, he was sure his family would pull some strings and bail him out. Besides, it wasn't like he forced her here. Camilla's own husband had sent her right to his bed. So what did he have to worry about?
And the thought that she might be untouched made him want her even more. If it was her first time, Owen wanted to be the one who took it. He didn’t want to rush—he wanted to take his time.
The blue dress hugged her body, setting off her pale skin and those perfect curves. In that torn blue dress, she looked unreal—too beautiful for how wrong this was.
Owen rubbed his palms together and climbed onto the bed on one knee, his eyes hungrily tracing every feature of her face. Just as he reached for her, Camilla stirred.
She felt awful. Heat burned through her body, her head was spinning, even her mouth was bone dry. Her hands fumbled and tugged at her dress. The strap slipped off her shoulder, revealing smooth, ivory skin.
Owen almost lost it right there. He put his hand on her shoulder, feeling how soft and flawless her skin was. Softer and smoother than anyone he’d ever touched. No question, this woman was something special… in fact, she was better than any woman he'd had before. She made his heart race in a way he’d never felt.
He crawled up onto the bed beside her, and because he was already so taken with her, he made his movements gentle. “Camilla, if you’re with me, I’ll make sure you never regret it.”
“As for that Daniel guy… He says he loves someone else, but honestly? I just think he can’t measure up.”
“Don't waste your time with him. From now on, you should be with me.”
Owen couldn't keep his eyes off her. The more he looked, the more he wanted her. The feeling surprised him. He didn't want just one night—he wanted more. Maybe a lot more.
She barely had the strength to lift her arm. Her hit didn’t hurt at all, not in the slightest. To Owen, it even seemed a little playful, almost like a tease.
“Easy,” Owen murmured. “I’ll make you feel good.”
Camilla’s last bit of clarity told her the man in front of her was dangerous, someone she wanted absolutely nothing to do with. But her own body wasn't listening to her anymore. All she felt was heat—burning, unbearable heat.
Owen saw how she was reacting and instantly guessed there was definitely something in that wine she drank. He hadn't expected Daniel to cooperate like this. Eager and thrilled, he pulled off his shirt in seconds. He didn’t even bother with his pants before leaning in, desperate to kiss her.
“No…” Camilla’s mind was flooded with fear, heartbreak, and pure helplessness. She wanted to scream, to push him away, but her body had no strength left. The fever inside her just kept growing, threatening to melt away whatever remained of her will to resist.
